USA Today D+

As I thought, gave the Eagles credit for Jason Peters, but forgot to count RW in our draft grade. Too funny.

The D grade seems fairly consistent among reviewers. They all acknowledge that we moved into the value rounds but still felt that we left a lot on the table and picked up back-ups rather than potential starters.

Kiper gave us a D as well.

Get used to it. It was an awful draft and it's going to receive almost universally awful grades. Ciskowski will eventually take the fall for it, a year or two from now when it's obvious that this group of guys can't play.

Draft Grade retrospective:

2007 Mel Kiper gave NYG a C-, they go on to win the superbowl in 2008

I would have gone differently with the Giants' draft. Cornerback Aaron Ross has very good ball skills but not great catchup speed. I was surprised they didn't take left tackle Joe Staley because they need someone who can protect Eli Manning's blind side. The Giants took offensive tackle Adam Koets in the sixth round and even passed on left tackle Jermon Bushrod. If they had taken Staley, they could have drafted Eric Wright from UNLV instead of WR Steve Smith. I would rather have had Staley and Wright, but Smith is a good receiver and will be someone who holds onto the ball. Zak DeOssie was a really good long snapper in college and, at worst, will be a backup linebacker in the NFL. Kevin Boss (fifth round) is a natural pass-catching tight end with speed and has a chance to make an impact in the passing game. Safety Michael Johnson was a good pick in the seventh round but needs to be more physical.
2008 Mel Kiper gave Chiefs an A, they go on to get pick #3 the following year

The rebuilding process is on. The Chiefs started the draft with 13 picks, and they made them count. After getting defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey -- the No. 1 player on my Big Board -- with the fifth overall pick, the Chiefs grabbed tackle Branden Albert, although he will be a work in progress. Virginia Tech cornerback Brandon Flowers would have been a mid-first-round pick if he had run better 40 times at the NFL combine. On Day 2, RB Jamaal Charles and Tennessee TE Brad Cottam -- who has untapped ability -- will be nice complements on offense. Cottam could be a diamond in the rough. DaJuan Morgan is a solid safety, Brandon Carr is another corner who might be a sleeper and Kevin Robinson can make his mark in the return game. Barry Richardson never materialized into a great offensive lineman at Clemson, but he could start right away with the holes Kansas City has on its offensive line. Defensive end Brian Johnston has long-range potential.
2006 Mel Kiper gave the Colts a C, 2007 they win the superbowl

First-round pick Joseph Addai (at No. 30) is a good blocking running back, but he is not all that dynamic running the ball. Tim Jennings will be a solid nickel cornerback, and I like the pick of LB Freddie Keiaho in the third round.

To say we left a lot on the table would be an understatement. They're were just to many potential playmakers between rounds 3-5 to just settle for what we got. This draft deserves no better than a C-.

All teams get an incomplete until a few years down the road..

I've seen C's and B- for 2008 and A+ all around for Kansas City. Who wants to trade Martellus, Felix, Scandrick, Choice, and Jenkins to KC straight up?

These mediots are producing grades because they are paid to. The Peters inclusion/Williams and Holland exclusion should tell you something right away.

Screw 'em all. Screw 'em right in the screw hole.

I don't get excited when we get drafting high marks or too upset if we are given low marks. As stated you don't really know about your draft until a few years down the road.

So drafts from a success evaluation point of view should be quantified in the aggregate over several years. Highly regarded drafts at the onset of the season are mental confetti from the analysts reaffirming their purportedly great assessments.

You can always expect a low draft grade when you don't have a first or second rounder, regardless of who you draft.

Well we did not have that much to choose from in this draft. Make no mistake, this was a pretty weak draft.

Really, like who exactly? Who made more plays at those positions we drafted?

Did any of you actually read anything about the guys we drafted or bother to watch any video? Or did you just assume because they all werent household names that it must be terrible? Because if you had dome any time of homework, you'd see "playmakers" kinda describe most of the guys we got, especially the defensive players.

He's grading the DRAFT, not the overall TEAM.

Our draft wasn't great, I don't know why people can't just accept that. If the players pan out, they pan out, but based on pre-draft player rankings, the players we took weren't great.

did you expect we were going to get tons of guys with 1st or 2nd rd grades in the 3-4-5 round areas?

Did I expect? I didn't expect anything, I'm talking about the players we actually took.

No. I expected we would take some of our later rnd picks and package them to move up in the 2nd round or late 1st to get some impact players or package them to get higher picks next year in what will hopefully be a more talented draft.:bang2:

Thinking he was talking round specific - there were better players available than we selected.

The one thing that is different this year as that for some people they looked at day 2 as being the scrap heap.

There were a ton of Picks still out there in the third round that have potential. Trade away some of those other picks and move right back up to the top of the third round.

Perhaps the Cowboys just didn't see anyone they really coveted, or just didn't want to lose picks by making a reach for a potentially good player.

Somehow, I don't think they're saying you're gonna win or not win the super bowl based on if your draft was good or not.

I personally don't know if we had a good draft or not cause we didn't really have a 1st or 2nd. Time will tell.

That's fairly accurate. No first day picks, and a few reaches early on day two will tend to get you a grade like this.
