Wow, you are unaware! There are many people with graduate degrees that make squat! Of course there are many people that didn't graduate high school that make in excess of $100k too. Anyhow, these guy will choose if they want to play for the AAFL. Just because you want to do said job, doesn't mean that job should pay what you want it to pay.

I am not unaware, but if you are going to require a 4 year degree you should pay them more than 35K

Teams were allowed to allocate players to NFL europe. This past season Dallas sent Tony Curtis, John Saldi and Remi Ayodele to the NFLE and we still retain their rights.

Well... I knew they could send them there, but do decide where they actually play/play for?

The degree isn't required for them to do the job. Requiring the degree is to prevent them from trying to do something stupid like drop out of school to play football for money.

I'm not sure how much leverage if any the NFL teams had regarding where a player went in NFLE.

Well, if it worked that way for NFLE. Then I think this could work for the NFL and it wouldn't be near as costly as starting their own minor league system.

I agree with this from one side, I also think if the NFL elected to use it as a minor league it would be good. The problem is, they don't mix unless the entire league is used as a single pool for each of the teams to grab from. (All free agents that can be snatched up at anytime) The problem with that is, anytime a single player shows anything, a team will grab him and the whole reason behind a minor league is to develop players. Players with potential will never get developed in the league because they will be snatched up before another team takes him.

The two best reasons that could make the league succeed are like mixing oil and water.

EDIT: It can cause sway in how good each team is. Teams based in Florida will be a lot better than teams based in the NE.

If this is a Spring league, I assume no player would get snatched up prior to the end of that spring season. And that there'd be rules governing the acquisition of these players.

It seems unlikely to me that 10 games or so of minor league football would help anyone to develop much, but even if the league only serves to give some wanna be NFL players a chance to earn a modest paycheck for a little while - what's the harm?

Given the player eligibility requirements (and other factors), the level of play in this minor league will be below that of major conference football. I wouldn't pay to go see it, but perhaps others would.

It will fold like all the rest imho

I don't think so.
The NFL would like this to succeed.
A league using college talent.
Working as a minor league system.

What level of invlovement they would want and $$$ is up in the air.

The NFL has deep pockets.

I agree with you there. I don't know what the percentage of graduation is for college football but I bet it would be under 50% after 4 years and then if you took the top 100 college players after the draft and looked at there graduation rate I bet it would be close to the 25% range if that after 4 years.

Good luck to the AAFL. But I barely have enough time to squeeze 1 NFL game in a week. It's also hard to watch games unless I have something to root for.

So what if they put a team in NY? Who do they draw from? Lamo Syracuse, Buffalo, and Army? Or Division III powerhouses like Hofstra?

I doubt they'd go to NY at all.

6 to 8 teams mostly in the South East where high school games can draw 50k seems a good bet.

A Lubbock team with ex-Tech guys and other panhandle players would raw pretty well even attract a local tv audience.

Smaller markets make sense. Easier for players to afford those markets at 70k as well.

My guess is they will group schools and build from there. UT/A&M/Rice = Austin Drag Queens and Tech/TCU/Baylor and Lubbuck Losers. :p:

I always thought that a development league would be more beneficial than NFLE.

Also, using them during and schedualed during the season, say on Friday nights and playing roughly 10-12 games a year per team would be cool and allow for NFL teams to possibly sign a player here and there, but using a waiver wire of sorts.

Its a good idea if the NFL is involved, if not it will probably fizzle out, IMO.
