True, but we already have Roy and Martellus who no one can compete with in a jump ball..we need a little burner. If we get Turner, I won't be upset but I'd rather have a guy that runs a 4.3

I really like Johnny Knox, but how long will he last with that 4.3 speed?

5th rounder...doubt it
4th rounder...likely
early 3rd round...possibly
late 2nd round...speed kills right?

Besides, I thought football speed was the key and Austin and Stanback reportedly have that kind of speed.

to be honest i thought Matthews would go before Rey & Cushing to Houston at 15/16. BP would be all over the guy because of his Dad alone.

Listening to LA ESPN 710 today somebody with "inside Knowledge" who was at USC pro day says Saints supposedly love Cushing at 14. Know Payton is out here because he was on NFLN yesterday which broadcasts from Culver City. All FWIW.

Cushing would be a great addition for them..I have them taking Vontae Davis though. Cushing makes sense though.

Knox is more of a 4th-5th rounder, although I was surprised when Jordy Nelson was selected in the 2nd last year.

Yep the Saints love USC players. By the way I'll never forget that play Cushing made against ND his sophmore year where he ran back the on side kick for TD. Cant question his athleticism.

Here's hoping Maualuga slides all the way to #51. I love how the "experts" start to overanalyze this time of the year and true blue chippers start to fall due to their "concerns".


Can you say Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp? Character concerns, 40 times & other imagined slights caused them to free fall too. There are always a few every draft.


Ray as a Cowboy will finally erase the injustice of not being able to draft Jr. Seau (a Jimmy fave) b/c Jimmy panicked and took Walsh in the supplemental.

Just a follow up from LA Times 4/2/09. Reiterated New Orleans interest in Cushing at 14. Also said Giants major interest in Mathews at 29 all FWIW.

oh, don't get me wrong, I would snatch him up in a heartbeat if he fell to 51

but this guy was being touted during the season, at least the early part of it, as some top 15 pick, which he clearly isn't

he may turn out to be worth it, but right now he wouldn't be

I'm obviously a fan and Rey is one of my favorite current Trojan but I think Cushing will be a better NFL player. Cushing will be a AJ Hawk type linebacker IMO. Matthews will be solid and will make plays.


Someone mentioned next year's WR Damian Williams..don't sleep on Ronald Johnson aka RoJo. He's a big-play deep threat and will be a big part of the offense. Aaron Corp, the current QB frontrunner, specializes in the deep ball so Johnson will get his shots.
