USC's Right Tackle

Tyron Smith reminds me of the guy out of USC who came out last year and was projected to go in the first, but fell to the Saints at the end of the 2nd. I think his name is Charles Brown? He was about the same weight as Smith

And Brown didn't play this year despite tackle being a weakness for the Saints. So it'd probably be something similar in Dallas with Smith, if he's really comparable. We're simply not in a position to wait on someone.

he could EASILY bulk up. I went from 160 pounds in the 10th grade to around 215 in the 12th, and thats with no personal trainer, and the best stuff, which this kid will have. He should have no problem bulking up.

BIg difference in someone who has not ever weight trained and someone who went to a school that had one of the best weight programs in the country. This bs that some beleive about how easy it is for college grads of top programs to suddenly gain 20-30 lbs and do it over night is truly dumb.

I think Smith might actually be a bit overweight right now because he is trying to make tackle weight. If he is is still around in the 4th I wonder if he could play fullback. He is very athletic and would be an excellent run blocker and his natural weight is probably somewhere around 265 to 270. With his experience at tackle I doubt the blocking responsibilities would be too much for him and he will help both the passing and running game immensely.

Now that is interesting. One problem with a big one like that is does he have the quickness to be able to move and shift and hit smaller LBS and DBs on the run?

Probably not DBs but I think he could probably pick up the smaller linebackers as long as the coaching staff just keeps it simple and lets him hit the nearest man. I think the biggest improvement will actually be in pass protection as he could pick up the blitz alot easier than Grownkoski.

Everyone is different. It's not so easy for some people to gain weight.

If he were switched I imagine it would be to TE.

Most people feel so, but I don't. He doesn't have the athleticism of a 1st round tackle IMO. But I'm definitely in the minority with that opinion.

I haven't seen a lot of Tyron Smith, but his athleticism and feet just jump out at you. I consider him to be a legit blue chip prospect. He'll need a few years on the bench, but it will be well worth it.

This doesn't sound like a first round pick. If you are picking in the top 10 you expect a starter or very heavy contributor. Guys that need three or four years will be available in the 4th and 5th round.
