I will say this I like the idea of getting Turpin much more involved then strictly ST . This is why KM has the OC job . That play in pre season where he took the pitch coming from across one sideline to the next made a 5 yard loss into a 7 yard gain is a glimpse to the possibilities . I think in the red zone he could be deadly .

I think they should run 4 or 5 wide with Turpin in the slot or out of the gun to the right of Dak with Fehoko on the right outside WR, who runs a 4.3 as well on a slant a few times with Turpin as the decoy. Once they start to key on Fehoko, have Lamb or Tolbert run a go route or a hitch and go up the opposite side of the field with Turpin on a wheel route. Dak would just have to time the deep ball, because no safety is going to be able to leave Simi and stay with Turpin if he beats the corner to the sideline.

I believe it's a little too hot in that Mr. Ed suit, you'd better come out for air:)

Use Turpin like Deebo Samuel?

You going to get him killed
^^this^^ Kid would be on a gurney in game 1 or 2. He needs used sparingly, and thats what we should do. Its a marathon, not a sprint.

Well, he should have been sacked after last season, but yes, he should be sacked if he can't work out how to use them for lots of points.

i think we played so many bad teams and padded points and yards during those games that he looked good on paper and by the numbers….just didn’t do well against decent to good teams for the most part.

I like the way you think . Get people involved using strengths to probe defensive weakness .

If you want him to get completely broken in half, sure why not?

Yeah it's exciting to see Turpin take a few to the house in the preseason but doesn't mean he's going to be a pro bowler and elite player like Samuel. If Turpin can be a good returner and utility role player on offense we should all be ecstatic.

Maybe I'm shooting low, but my expectations for Turpin are a little more productive version over Tavon Austin. I don't know that I see him getting more than 2-3 offensive touches a game with Lamb, Schultz, Zeke, Pollard, Gallup, and the rest of the guys, but we'll see. If Turpin ended up producing these type of offensive stats while being a productive returner I would say the signing was a success. Anything more than that is icing.

30 catches 350-400 yards
10 rushes 85 yards
3 tds

The first thing Turpin needs to do is establish that he can play WR at the NFL level. If and when he does that, and shows teams that he is more than just a gadget guy and a misdirection threat we can have more discussions. Until then anytime he enters the game defenses are expecting the unexpected. It's one of the reasons Tavon Austin wasnt given more touches or gadget plays. He had the athletic ability, but was never a real threat to defenses from the wr position.

Plus given his size it's likely that his snaps get limited as is.

Deebo has about 60lbs and three inches on Turpin. They aren’t similar players really in that regard.
Per Pro Football Reference:
Samuel__ 6'0, 215 lbs (26 yrs, 8 mos.)
Turpin____5'3, 153 Ibs (26 yrs, 1 mo.)

hey, lets say no. Dude is way too small to get used like DS. He'd be hurt early and often if we did that.
Agree.....but saw a DC Instagram stateing the kid can press 420 and squat 600 at his 158 weight...so he could take a little here and there....
....da'umn

I bet like Emmitt, he is quik enough to seldom take a direct lick

The Romans were famously good at taking what their opponents used to beat them and reinventing it into something that was better. For example, when they battled the Phoenicians during the Punic Wars, the Phoenicians were particularly good at sailing. After a battle, the Romans learned how to maneuver their boats better and used a contraption that allowed a ramp to spike down onto the end of the boat and fight on essentially the boat to shift the advantage to them as they were better on land.

I use this historical reference to say that we can do something similar with Turpin. One thing that the 49ers beat us with was using Deebo Samuel on various running routes and fakes to set up the other plays. I think we can copy that and outdo them on that. Turpin is lethal with the ball in his hands. So, not only should we see jetsweeps, but maybe we can run other plays such as direct snaps to him and have him essentially read option it where he can run with it, or toss it to Dak on a reverse and have Dak throw it to him on a corresponding route. Plays like this can be used creatively to take what the 49ers did and use it as an even bigger weapon against other teams with Turpin.
Deebo weighs 215-220 pounds. Tupin is 160.

NO!

We should probably use Diggs like the Steelers use TJ Watt.

Turpin should be used like expensive aftershave..

Special occasions when warranted, too much and it's not only a waste, but it can also reek.

I just thought.... if K.Moore couldn't design enough plays to get Tavon Austin effectively involved in our offense before, what the hell is he going to do with Turpin???
