Wear and tear on practice squad players? They already aren't playing.

If they’re playing spring football they’ll be doing more than practicing. In minor league baseball they play games. You’re suggesting a minor league football in the spring.

I think they are using a chip in the ball to use as measuring if a first down instead of using chains.
I read that somewhere, but can’t remember if it is the USFL or the XFL when it returns next year.

I'm not getting the issue. Have the NFL have a full minor league like the MLB and NBA. Obviously their pay, etc would have to adjust, but why not have them actually play?

I am thinking the 1st quarter or so for me. But you never know, may last longer. Just wish Dallas had a team as there are no teams to affiliate with, need to see some of the players as that may help. Not that I will be watching all the games, so probably does not matter.

I'll never understand why the NFL doesn't do a minor league. Every team has a practice squad. Allow them to field a full practice team for the spring.

Remember NFL Europe? Not enough people watched or cared. What the NFL needs is a proven successful spring league to develop and then attach itself it. Hasn’t happened yet.

Football is too physically demanding to have them play games in the spring then bring them up to the NFL during the fall. You’re suggesting minor league football and they would be playing games.

How is that different than any other football league? No matter the name, the goal is to get into the NFL.

Whether it's whatever the hell this league is, or an NFL minor league, the goal is the NFL.

Again you’re suggesting minor league football that would be played in the spring. Most of these players in the USFL had their shot in the NFL and will never get back. The NFL tried using the World League of American football in Europe as a developmental league. Each NFL team sent a few players up there. NFL teams aren’t going to risk the health of talented players in a developmental minor-league system. Plus the rules in these leagues are different than the NFL. No NFL team is going to send a talented player to a developmental league so they can tear up a knee or something else. You would shorten a players career playing that much football.
