Just plain no to Richardson...it's simple. weed, and eventually will cost too much....why waste a draft pick on a one year player. And you can't say he will be THAT player, and just franchise tag him for big $$$$. There are better options.

That's not near all his problems... Hear he is a locker room cancer habitually late for meetings and not caring much. Not a team
player for sure. We would get him for only 1 year then, he's off to FA and probably more money. PASS! Only got 1.5 sacks last year. We could do better in draft.

weed is not great but he is not a gregory.
i would love a 3rd also but there could be other bidders like denver.
you could franchise him for 2 years after that if he is a war daddy.
8M + $13.6M + $13.6M would be a bargain for a war daddy for 3 years.
furthermore, there does not need to be a long term commitment unless he signs a favorable contract.
true hes not getting busted again and again and again but from the Jet fans i have talked too, hes not a leader and kind of a moron. He also considered a locker room headcase. not spending a 2nd.

Player for pick trades don't happen all that often, unless its low end players moving for end of the draft picks. There's just too much value in picks in rounds 1-4 to want to give them up for someone who's already, or about to get, expensive.

or could be both. he was benched this season for quitting on the team. Not giving a 2nd for a player who has all those problems. Neither would any other team.

Why do people, as I seen it different places, think we can get Richardson for a 4th round pick.
First, do not trade picks for players, unless that guy is that difference maker. Also, this was supposedly offered during the season, but the offer was turned down. So why would they do it now.

Richardson's numbers were not that great last year, so that should bring down his value. However, I don't see as much of a need to upgrade DT as some apparently do. We've got Collins, gave Thornton a multi-year deal last year, T. Crawford should be returning to the inside and it's possible Irving will play primarily there depending on what we do at end.

1 year rental to see if he is that player.
franchise tag $ for DT is $13.6M - a bargain for a war daddy and no long term commitment.
a 3 year 35M contract for a war daddy is well worth a high pick like a 2nd.

Obviously you have your mind / heart set on this.
So all I can say is, I am glad you are not the GM or a scout, or anything involved with the team to influence player personnel.

I guess your definition of a war daddy and everyone elses is different. 18 career sacks, a high of 8 in 2014, and a low of 1.5 in 2016, with a career avg of 4.5. He is closer to Jack Crawford's sack numbers then he is to demarcus ware sack numbers.

we shall see what denver does.
it could be a bidding war given the lack of war daddies on the free agent market.

dont just look at his stats.

War daddy? He's had one good season. If Denver wants to trade a 2nd for him then they can have him. No way he gets in trouble for weed again in a city like Denver

I honestly don't see us signing anyone for quite a while. We may sign one or two of our own...but I'm not expecting much for the first week or so.

Within a week this place will look like Jonestown as name after name signs with a different team.

that would not be a bad offseason.
richardson would be a very talented DL add though some worry about his locker room etc.
but a 4th rounder would be a steal and i doubt it - they were asking for a 1st.

cooper is fine as long as we intend to replace free with collins.
free is the #1 problem with the offense and lack of wr2 is the #2.

patterson would charge up the return game.
the problem is how is pass route running and receiving?

Its hard to see where Richardson would fit. He is more of a 3tech and we already have 2 of those.

nit fussed either way on the richardson talk but he is quite literally 10 times better than both those guys put together.
in fact he coukd play anywhere on dl and be better at that spot than any if our players.....
