I really couldn't tell you which simulator out there is the most realistic. I need one with trading allowed.
I'm using the one at profootballnetwork.com. Of course, I'm just as responsible for keeping things realistic. I could easily trade down enough to get 30 players but i think a more realistic outcome would be `10-12 players.
I typically trade down from #12. Sometimes there is a real intriguing guy left on the board like Styles or Downs but upgrades make that more rare.
In my current mock, Detroit offers me their #17 and #50 for my #12, a clear increase in value so I take it.
With the #17 overall pick, New England offers me their #30, #63 and #95. I counter by including their #171 and it is a trade.
At this point, I now have two 1s, two 2s and two 3s. I am ready to rock with 12 picks, six in the top 100.
At #20 I take CB Avieon Terrell out of Clemson.
At #31 I take CB Brandon Cisse out of South Carolina. I have two excellent pieces to rebuild by CB squad. together with Revel, they are the future but can contribute right away. I do not trust Bland's health.
At #50, it's time to go LB and sitting at the top of my list is LB Jacob Rodriguez from Texas
At pick #63 the top two players are CBs and the rest are offensive players with the exception of any OTs....of course.
However, Miami gives me an out. They offer their #75 and #111.
At #75, I settle on OT Caleb Tiernan from Northwestern. At 6'8, 323 LBS, he has participated in 40 college games while playing both left and right. He would make a good swing tackle for now.
At pick #92 I decide on NT Darrell Jackson from Florida State. This guy is a tree stump that should really help in the NT rotation.
At #95 I decide on LB Deontae Lawson from Alabama, a fulltime starter for the Crimson Tide.
Going into the 4th round I have picks #111 and #112. Sitting at the top of my board is CB Hezekiah Masses, a playmaker from California. despite my earlier investments, I'm really tempted to take him. However, there are other needs so I take S Bud Clark from TCU and LB Aiden Fisher from Indiana. EDGE Joshua Josephs was also available but his light frame doesn't seem compatible with a 3-4.
At this point, I initiate a trade with the Eagles for their 122nd pick, giving up three picks in the 6th and 7th rounds. I select EDGE LT Overton from Alabama. At 6'3, 274 LBS, he has the prototypical size for a 3-4 DE.
At #177, it is S Deshon Singleton from Nebraska. At 6'3, 205 LBS, he is a Quinnesque style DB that can also play special teams.
Having traded my 6th and 7th round picks, my last selection is at #180, 2nd to last in the 5th round and I just have to double-dip at the OT position. Markel Bell at Miami is a monster 6'9, 346 LBS. He's a project but the potential is through the roof. With overwhelming size, power and strength, he was Miami's starter at LT for the 2025 season.
#20 CB Avieon Terrell, Clemson
#31 CB Brandon Cisse, N Carolina
#50 LB Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech
#75 OT Caleb Tiernan, Northwestern
#92 NT Darrell Jackson Jr., Floridas State
#95 LB Deontae Lawson, Alabama
#111 S Bud Clark, TCU
#112 LB Aiden Fisher, Indiana
#122 DE LT Overton, Alabama
#177 S DeShon Singleton, Nebraska
#180 OT Markel Bell, Miami
Two CBs, three LBs, two Safeties, one NT, one DE and two OTs, in all 11 players, all in the top five rounds.
What did I do right, where did I do wrong.....be gentle.
