Q1: Does a 2023 2nd round pick have more value than Laremy Tunsil?

Q2: Would you swap a 2nd for Tunsil and a 3rd if you only get Tunsil for 1 year at 1 million.

Details
Tunsil 2 years at an average of 9.5M per year for a the team that acquires him.

2nd round pick probably redshirts as a rookie.
- Realistically they get 3 cheap starting seasons from the draft pick.

If they end up wanting to move Tyler to LT in 2023, they could get back a 3rd round pick for Tunsil.
- They would only end up paying him 1M for 2022 and the team that trades for him would inherit 18M for 2023.

Is Tunsil on the market?

Why would Houston do it? And John McClain the longtime Houston Chronicle writer says that he would earn them a 1st round pick and more. They would also take a big cap hit.

McClain is factoring in the JJ fleece factor. Doubt they get a 1st and more from any other team.

Just an initial glance so far the upcoming class looks to be really week. A trade or FA may be the best option by far!

Teams think Dallas is desperate, so they'll end up trying to rake us across the coals. I think, we should just go in to week one with what we have, then bring in a vet if needed. That way the vets salary isn't guaranteed for the whole year.

Tunsil + Houston's 2nd for Dallas 1st.

Then Houston's GM looks like he won the trade because most fans just see that he got a 1st...

Absolutely I would do a 2nd and probably a 3rd kicker. You’re not going to get as good a prospect in the 2nd as LT is. Yeah, the $ are more, but it’s not long-term money.

This team misses more than hits round 2 so maybe, Of course you would have to believe Tunsil is the missing piece which I dont.

If you can get Tunsil for 2 day two picks, even without the low salary numbers, you do so

A veteran can collect full salary one time in their career in the "non guaranteed" scenario. They also collect if injured.

They only get Tunsil for 2 seasons.

Adding a 3rd to the 2nd would be a lot of draft capital; although still less than a 1st.

I would do that in a heartbeat. Houston’s 2nd is going to be a high 2nd.

Right, but there’s no guarantee the player they get in the 2nd will pan out. Like you said in the OP, they probably don’t get production anyway for at least a year so you only get 3 years from that 2nd round player. The added 3rd offsets need and immediate impact factor of Tunsil.

I’d probably even take back a 3rd instead of a 2nd. The Cowboys’ 2nd and Texans’ 3rd probably gets us back in the end of the 1st given how high the Texans should be picking. I haven’t looked at the draft value chart, though.
