Van Halen... Roth or Hagar?

For me it's always been Roth, but I think Sammy has done the second best job in the history of rock of replacing a lead singer. (The first being Brian Johnson replacing the deceased Bon Scott in AC/DC) What are your thoughts?

And since he was in the band for one album, what did you think of Gary Cherone and VH3? I actually don't mind that album that much. I think he did an admirable job, but he was never on the same level as DLR and the Red Rocker.

I've always preferred Roth, but I like music from both versions of VH.

Great call on Montrose. My vote for the most underrated band of all time.

Because, and only because, it's Van Halen, I'll give Roth the nod.

If Haggar had come first, I would pick him though. He is by far the more talented guy. imo

What? No love for Gary Cherone?

I'm telling you, if this was a Sammy song it would've been a big hit....

1. David Lee Roth when halfway or more sober.
2. Sammy Hagar was good but better Montrose and solo.
3. Gary Cherone is dead to me. Completely sucked.

A bigger impact for me (in a negative way) is when Eddie decided to play keyboard. IMO All VH's music suffered after that.

So.....you only like the new DLR? Because he was swimming in a whiskey barrel in the 70's and 80's.

Always loved Roth, but the one time I saw them in concert it was Hagar. I like them both, really.

lmao.

I liked Roth better but I'm not sure it wasn't that the music on those first albums was just better.

That Montrose album was one of my favs.
