Vanderjagt Update

Since the Cowboys released Mike Vanderjagt on Nov. 27, no team claimed him on waivers and no teams have called and offered him a full-time job.

"He wants to go where he would have an opportunity to be the guy," Vanderjagt's agent, Gil Scott, said. "Right now, there's just not a whole lot of kickers messing up."

The Commanders discussed Vanderjagt and opted against him, signing former Cowboys kicker Shaun Suisham to their practice squad instead.

And no other playoff contenders appear to have a pressing need at kicker.

In recent weeks, the Texans and Dolphins have tried out kickers, but neither team has been in contact with Scott.

For now it looks like Vanderjagt, who has returned to his home in Canada, might be iced for the remainder of this season.



I think his cocky attitude has more to do with him being "black balled" than anything. No one wants an arrogant "idiot kicker" with the yips. No matter that you are the "most accurate kicker in league history". Watching his video on his website made me want to puke. Claiming he was a HOF kicker and the best ever. Plaaaaaaaase. You suck!

Playoff caliber teams probably are set at this point at kicker. Teams that aren't in the running for playoffs can just wait until the off season to sign him if they want him. Why try to sign him now knowing he will want a signing bonus and decent sized contract? Wait until you can get a full season out of him. I don't think it is that surprising that he is not signed even with his attitude problems.

Hey, if someone picks him up, do they have to pick up any or part of the contract? If I'm not mistaken, we have to eat the bonus at least?

It's amazing that Mrs. Daniella Snyder hasn't already offered him 3 years $60 million making him the highest paid kicker of all time! ROFL
