Rafael Vela details how safeties Gerald Sensabaugh and Alan Ball hang CB Mike Jenkins out to dry against the Bears and Titans.

I forgot that the Knox bomb was a Sensabaugh bust and not a Ball bust.

The bottom line is this.

Mike Jenkins was not at fault on the Knox and Britt bombs.

To be honest, it was fortunate that Jenkins has the speed to chase a reciever 80 yards down the field and make a tackle.

90% of corners that are playing thinking they have safety help over the top don't catch up to streaking WR's. Those are 6 virtually everytime.

Those coverages were four deep across on the Knox and Britt bombs.

I do believe that Dallas was in quarters coverage on both the Knox and Britt bombs.

Ron Jawarski stated that Dallas was in quarters coverage on the Knox bomb.

Deion Sanders stated that Dallas was in quarters coverage on the Britt bomb.

On both bombs, Mike Jenkins has no inside help.

Jenkins ends up in the safety's fourth of the football field, between the hashes.

Where is the blasted safety on those plays? Vela shows you.

Both balls were not even in Jenkins' area or 1/4 of the field.

Jenkins should have help when he enters the safety's area or 1/4 of the field.

Twice, he didn't get it.

On those two plays, Mike Jenkins did his job.

The safety didn't do his job.

I agree.

Johny Knox runs a 4.2, and # 21 made it close. Jenkins can fly.

Plus, he was close to Britt.

The WRs are beating the safeties in that coverage, and Jenkins is doing his job. # 21 is protecting his zone or area and taking the WR attacking the safety's area of the field, when the WR attacks that area deep, except the safety isn't home. It should end up being a double team, with help over the top.

Jenkins had a few negative plays in the Bears and Titans games, but on those two bombs, it wasn't his fault.

Jenkins has played two great games against the Commanders and Texans.

I don't care about being beat deep. It happens. It happens atleast once a game to most teams. The Jets got beat deep against the Vikings on Monday. Fact is, Mike Jenkins put this team in a hole soon as the game started with those 2 penalties. That had nothing to do with "safety help".

Is it asking too much of your safeties to play a safe defense like quarters?

You will not win in the NFL getting beat deep over and over.

Those plays lead to points.

The blown safety coverages lead to TDs.

Those plays change momentum and force your offense to have to pass more to keep up.

The Jets picked 6 Farve late or, they may not have won.
