I see it in every offensive set, in every offensive practice.

If you could see it, you would anticipate the season a bit more strongly.

Jason Garrett is fully aware of Felix Jones' skills. His catching ability. His explosiveness. His pleasing ability to take an ordinary play with a juke and a burst of acceleration, turn it into an extraordinary one.

Garrett has obviously been at his drawing board this offseason. He's been scheming for to get Felix the ball, where he can do the most with it and defenses can do the least to stop him.

There's a part of every set, of every offensive package I've seen that's unique to Felix. But that doesn't mean Garrett has gone all kerflooey on us. He hasn't drawn up 30 gadget plays. Hardly. There are some exotic plays in his book, but most of the "Felix list" are simple tweaks to standard plays. A slight shift. A slight change of direction. A slight variation from the ordinary, but with a clear purpose in mind.

Felix Jones is going to get the ball more. He's going to catch it more and he's going to run it more. That's clear from the workouts. It's clear that the OC knew Felix yardage splits long before the rest of us did. He knew what he lost when Jones went down in Arizona last year. That he won't use Jones for 60 minutes again as a decoy, as he did against Washington last year.

In May, I predicted 14-16 touches from scrimmage a game for the crafty cat from Arkansas this year. After three practices, I'm ready to double down on that prediction.

The touches are coming. You'll just have to wait to see how and when, just like all the defenses on the schedule.

I will be pleasntly shocked if "el gato" sees 15 plays a game.

15 plays is inevitable. 15 touches would be surprising.

You can't afford to not give someone that special the football. I know you want to protect him and not run him into the ground, but the guy is one of your best players.

Zoners: FJ is simply amazing for those of you who have not had the opportunity to watch him in person.

Honestly, I do not understand how he dropped to us in the twenties....hindsight we are lucky to have him on our team.

Add to that - at the time, I HATED...I mean HATED the pick. I was cussing Jerry, cussing the scouting department, cussing Wade, cussing the team, cussing my dogs, cussing my wife, cussing my TV, cussing my couch, cussing my beer...pretty much cussing everything.

How foolish I feel now :D

Don't forget about Tashard Choice either. He can play, too. Get him the ball with some passes also.

Don't feel bad. Any of us who care have been there.

Interesting how seldom the draft plays out like you think it will or should.
I also find it interesting how often the "perfect pick", the one that makes all sense in the world often doesn't work out.

The guy falls 8-10 spots lower than everyone projected, he fills a huge need and then he sucks.:(

All my years following the draft, I never had one come close to 2001.
Everything we did that day made perfect sense and most of the picks looked like real value.

El Gato, that's spanish for "The Gat" ;-)
:lmao2:

Awesome predictions about the carries, but don't forget, this is the same staff that "forgot" to get him the ball vs. Washington. Will they "forget" to get him many carries? Or will there be games where he gets 5?

Here's to the annual pre-season feelings of HOPE!!!

15 carries would surprise me now. But if he keeps avg over 5 a carry much less 9 then he has to get the ball. The other side of that is how durable is this guy. Yeah, forget college. Semi-forget last year.

And if he can't take it inside then the defenses will address that. I think he can run inside. He may not be Emmitt up the middle but I see all our guys pounding it up the gut this year.

And while I incredibly excited about this guy, I'm not ready to annoint him just yet. Maybe by the end of Sept.

Its the Drew Henson factor. He had McFadden in front of him. Frankly when I saw both, I felt not that impressed by McFadden because of Felix. I thought Felix got more yardage and more impressive than McFadden or at least equal to McFadden. Besides I thought McFadden got tackled pretty easily.

I wasn't all for Felix, but wasn't against him, but boy am I surprised how it is turning out, hopefully health willing.

He's exactly right, Felix is the kind of back that always seems like he's going to break one. He showed incredible vision and burst last year in a few short games. His highlights speak for themselves, only a few backs in this league have home run abilities like Felix. I watched him freeze veterans, make one quick move, and be high stepping in the endzone 60 yards later. His talent isn't a joke.

If the bandwagon isn't full I want to ride shotgun on this one, Felix is going to silence a lot of critics next year.
