Right now we're 12.5 million under the cap. Say around 11 after rookie signings. The cap's going up again next year. I seriously doubt that those two guys are going to take that much cap room to get resigned.

But won't the extensions that we will give to our existing players, combined with our draft signings, take up alot of that availible space?

Regarding T-New, he will command money. Stats or not, he is a LEGIT shutdown corner in this league and we are really lucky to have him... teams would drool to have an opportunity to have him. Matt Shaubs' contract was 48 million, and Romo, although this is purely conjecture, will have another great year and command at least as much or more.

I hope that you are right that we will have enough money to keep the players we want, and that we won't have a cap-meltdown in the next few years, look at what cap situations did to the Titans:jackpot: ; shoot, look at the Commanders, they are hog-tied in terms of cap room(they are soooo luckly the cap is going up this year..

Didn't the cap go up like 8 mil from last season to this one? And this is our current cap number, 12.5 mil under. Then you have to think of other guys who may not be back next year... Flo, JJ, will TO be kept for his last season? Will Glenn be able to fight through his injury for another year... Aaron Glenn, etc. etc.

Right now we're under the cap, and we have lots of flexibility. Don't freak out about the possibility of being cap strapped down the road. Too many things can happen. We're in good shape now, relax.

There is no hope needed, Newman and Romo aren't going anywhere. There are much more legitimate things to worry about then these two.

I agree they are not going anywhere...but my point is...if a GUARD is getting 18M to sign...what would you have to pay a top 5 CB and a NFC Pro Bowl QB...sure...we will probably get them signed....but where does the bargaining begin? 20M?

The cap is due to go up another 7 million next year. With what we will have left over this year if we sign Romo before the end of the season, we can do both him and Newman without getting in a bind at all. We are not going to have to give out any really big contracts outside of them for the forseeable future. Glenn and TO will be gone in 2 years maximum. The only guy down the line that we would have to worry about is ware in 3 years. we have gotten Witten and Roy taken care of; there is no one else that will cost us big money to keep.
