Jenkins

BoyzRBack,

Henry is almost washed up. Jenkins is his replacement. In fact, I’m worried that Wade will keep playing a banged up Henry over Jenkins, who is getting better every week, despite his warts. I talked to a scout who has spoken to opponents who say they like Jenkins and targeted Henry because they don’t feel he can run any more.

This much is obvious to anyone who has watched Henry try to cover anyone this year - he just has minimal quickness left which makes him useless at CB. He should be a TE cover specialist only at this stage. He cannot survive the pounding at FS.

Newman and Jones coming back will make this secondary as good as we hoped this off season. Jenkins and Scandrick both really developed faster. They had to.

This is Henry's last year in Dallas.

I'm not a NFL scout and I didn't sleep at Holiday Inn Express last night. But I could have told you that weeks ago.

The end of the year isn't soon enough. We need to get Henry off WRs ASAP to give us the best chance at winning games for the rest of the year. It is a Reevesque mismatch that we are giving up on every down with him out there.

I left this out of the original post, but Vela stated in the same comment that Dallas had a top 15 grade on Mike Jenkins. Vela states he is highly thought of around the league.

I know Antione Cason has a lot of fans on here. His career speaks for itself and his draft status, but Dallas jumped San Diego for Jenkins. At least, that is what it looked like.

Now, think about this.

If Jenkins had a top 15 grade, what about Felix?

Things that make you go, hmmmm.

yeah but Hostile, we might not get adam jones back; i am thinking the way the commisssioner sounded, its going to be more games for adam jones, and do you really want to take the chance for taking him back and getting suspended again?

remember the commssioner said that next time could be more fines for taking a troubled player back and draft picks taken away Hostile?

remember we were suppose to get a 4th round draft choice back from tennessee if adam jones got suspended, the commissioner nixed that deal, and only let the cowboys get back a 5th rounder.

I am thinking if we take jones back and he gets into trouble again, goodell woulld take away one of our 4th round picks or maybe a 3rd,

would you want to give up that high a draft choice?

Cason's biggest fan here.

Jenkins was the #1 target of the team. The night before the Draft I said he would be our pick at 22. I was shocked he had dropped that far. He was top 10 pre-Combine. When we took Felix I nearly fell over.

So I was not at all shocked we moved back up to get him too.

He is going to be a great CB. Kid has great feet.

Still have high hopes? The kid had one poor effort on a tackle, and the board bails on him. He's played well for a rookie and is going to likely be a good starter for a long time. He's part of a banged up secondary without 3 of it's best players right now.

Hostile,

I think your right. I agree with you. That is one reason why I defend him with so much vigor. I think we stole him. I was shocked to see him fall. The Eagles could have saved some money and drafted Jenkins. I'm glad they didn't. Washington could have used him, too. Ditto.

You know, the young guy is from the South, and this is his first time dealing with some of the true elites in the media. From just observing him and listening to him after he was drafted, he sure sounds like a good person with some humility.

I'm really high on Jenkins. I think he's got some special tools. I won't worry about some of the other stuff until I see it again. Sometimes young players just do stupid things...

But the good really outweighs the bad with Jenkins. He's certainly got all of the physical tools you could want. Actually, if I had my way, he would be getting more of Henry's snaps.

I think Anthony Henry is a solid football player, but he doesn't have the wheels to really unshackle this defense.

Good post.

I'm dropping great posts like turds over here. It's like I ate a metaphorical case of bran muffins and drank a gallon of virtual coffee.

This post is another instant classic, as a matter of fact.

The reason I was so disappointed in Jenkins with the "whiffed tackle" was because I like the kid so much. I wouldn't say I bailed on him, but it was extremely tough to watch him do that.

That being said, it's in the past and I see nothing but a bright future for Mike. He is extremely important to us this season, and especially in the coming years.

Henry is done. Everytime the ball goes to his side I just know it's going to be a decent completion, if not a HUGE one.

And I agree with whoever said Henry wouldn't last a half-time at free safety. He is not physical enough now. Maybe 2 years ago, but not now.
