Vela: Source: Jones at CB Probably Sooner Than Later

Newman actually said the opposite (i.e., that Henry was looking good this offseason).

screw newman

unnamed sources, that may or may not be experts in the field are more knowledgeable about who looks good.

Newman pfft!

I just dont see how jones could be depended on.

The knock on henry has always been his speed. All these unnamed sources vela has kind of stink if you ask me.

The unnamed source was Eduncan :lmao:

With the popularity of teams going 3-wide from the jump, will it even matter? Unless Jenkins or Scandrick sets the world on fire we'll proabaly see 41, 21, and 42 on the field together most of the time, anyway. Whatever the case, I'd take ANY combination of them over the mess we had last season!

I can't see how a reinstated Jones would not be starting here -- talent-wise he's one of the top 20 CBs in the league, hands down. Clearly a #1 CB guy. That is no knock on Henry, who I think is a very good player for a 2nd CB

Exactly. Everybody our of Valley Ranch was talking about how Henry had more interceptions than any CB at the camp. And this observation was usually in the context of people outside the Ranch getting excited about what Jones was doing.

But I really don't care... If Adam Jones is playing lights-out or Henry is playing lights out, we all benefit.

I think every year we hear that Henry is looking slow in camp.
Exactly, Henry is a slow starter. They said the same thing about him in camp last year and he went on to lead the league in interceptions before he got hurt.

If Pacman wins the job then great but I wouldn't be worried about Henry.

A hurt Henry is not a good thing. We need a full complement of CB's.

Adam Jones has been out of football for a year and there's no guarantee he'll be fully reinstated.

Would it be a total disaster if Jenkins had to start? We pretty much started Reeves and won 13 games.

Maybe its me, but i'd rather have Jones stay at 3rd CB all season. We need to see how he can handle himself when he's not starting, even if he thought he should

So as some sort of "test" you would prefer to have a worse player on the field?

I never said he would be the best player. I said even if he thinks he is better.

And you the person who went on a rant of the meaning of words.

I'm not worried at all. He lost his job, his money, his home, and most of his possessions. That's some serious motivation for a kid who's had very little growing up, gained the world, and then went back to having nothing. He's going to be fine if the commish will give him the chance.

DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!

You guys kill me with all the stressing over Pacman.

This young man can not afford to get into trouble. He's out of options. That's why this is going to go down as one of our very best moves. We're getting a 24 yr old PB caliber CB for a 4th rd pick and a contract you couldn't get a 2nd rd pk signed for. Pacman got no SB with this 4 yr deal. We have no risk here.

I spoke to couple of sources tonight who offered some interesting news on the Cowboys and the Brett Favre situation.

– One source told me he’s convinced Adam Jones will win one of the CB spots in Dallas. That’s hardly shocking news. What did surprise me was his assessment of incumbent Anthony Henry, who he claimed looked “so bad” at the team’s OTA workouts. He thinks Henry may be still be ailing and that “he looked slow… no burst or quickness.”

That’s something to watch when camp opens next week.

Please, I hear this every year about Henry. I kept hearing how he was repeatedly getting burned in TC last year and then look what happened during the regular season. It should be taken with less than a grain of salt.

But that is also what every fan in Cowboy's Nation will be wondering too. Will he keep his head on straight or act a fool?

I hate the phrase "Cowboy Nation". This is America's Team, the entire nation, not some little gang banger pocket of support like Raider Nation, supports the team.

Using that phrase is first, redundant, secondly, a stupid copy of someone else's advertising gimmick.

So you don't think Jones would be better than Henry or Jenkins? Is that what you are saying?

He has yet to prove he will even play this season, let alone be better than Henry.

Until he proves to the coaching staff that he is ready and capable of starting, he shouldn't start. Regardless of whether or not he thinks he should.

Which was my point. Can he keep in control, when he thinks he should be starting, and isn't.

Answer the question, instead of deflecting like you usually do, and asking mindless questions that serve no point to the original post.

My exact first thought.

We all find out shortly.

So your point is that he shouldn't start if the staff doesn't think he should? Duh. That's your point? Brilliant. Adam Jones shouldn't be a starter unless the coaching staff thinks he should be a starter. Way to go out on a limb.

Wow. Looks who is talking about posts that serve no point.

Wow look who can't read

I said i want to see how he can handle not starting, when he feels like he should.

You said that means i want the worse player starting.

How does that turn into that ramble above?

Again you're constant deflection and inability just admit that you made a mistake is rampant in this thread.
