No, I called Verizon and they said that only port 80 is blocked. They said Port 3389, which is the RDP port should be open. I have tried just about everything to get the port to open. I'm on Verizon and Portforward.com's forum trying to get some answers.

Maybe a stupid question, but did you set your PC's IP address as static to 192.168.1.2? If not it's possible it would acquire a different address from DHCP. When I set static adresses on my internal network, I like to set them outside the range of those given by DHCP.m In your case you have the range set from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 which is all of them. I would change this to be from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.50 instead, and assign static addresses in the 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.199 range

I ran into one our tech support guys at work and he told me about Justlogmein.com. He says it is better than Remote Desktop, so I downloaded the client and I am going to test it when I go to work tomorrow. I was just about to pay for the "premium" tech support for Fios.

Also, have you noticed any intermittent freezing? Alot of times, when I close any application, it will freeze for a split second. It just started doing this when I got FIOS.

To be honest, if Uverse was available, I would go with ATT.

Bummer to hear you're having so many issues. I've been issue-free in the year plus since I've had it. No freezing or slowness.

I've only had to call support a handful of times, and I usually tell them exactly what I need done, so there's no thinking on their part. I've never had an issue that way.

Yeah, I will try it tomorrow and see if it is tolerable.

I don't give up easy, so I am still going to find out why my port won't open.

You're trying to connect to your external IP, and not your internal IP from work right?

Yep. I just got off the phone with the Verizon Premium Support services and he said I was doing everything correct and had no idea why port 3389 will not open.

Dude, I'm telling you. Go to eBay. Plop down the $50-$60 on a Linksys, put the 3rd party firmware (free and regularly updated) on it, and never look back. PM me if you want details on the firmware and what versions of the router to look for. I'm not a shill, and I know plenty of people have had issues with Linksys. But I've been using it without issue for over a year with FIOS, and for several years with my DSL connection before that. It's also what I use whenever I help someone else get their setup going.

I have a Linksys Router. The apartment complex I lived in in Irving required Time Warner and so I used the Linksys for years. Once I moved to Allen, they had Uverse and their router has a built in Firewall, so I didn't see the need for my Linksys Router. Fios is the same way. Someone on Portforward.com thinks he/she can fix my issue and using Logmein.com, I don't have to open a port. Also, it would be nice to run my Web Server at home but it is better to move it offsite.

Just fooling around with the settings, I changed something the documentation stated that you had to have. Took it off and the port is now open.
