Very Encouraged

when the media asked was this a change he said twice "Not Necessarily" I think Wade had allot of say if he failed it was on him. I do think Jerry made the comments as he did to try and stop the speculation but as we see some are not buying it.

But the reality suggests otherwise - Wade didn't choose the majority of his staff - Jerry and Jason did. Jerry is saying that will change, end of story.

I know the defense used for Jerry is the ole "no coach has ever said Jerry is a meddler" and the "Coaches say he doesn't meddle"

I can personally only remember one coach saying any thing about an owner.
Parcells with his shop for the groceries shtick.

I don't know what Jerry will do, he said the right things but he says allot of things.

All we can do is hope, pray and wait it out.

& not get to cynical about his words because the cynicism will drive us all bonkers. :laugh2:

It's the ultimate small universe, coaches rarely say too much that can bite them back, especially when it comes to powerful owners, that are in it for the long run.

Jerry did not say that was a change. The media asked that question is this a change he said Not necessarily. I'm not making it up that is what he said if you don't believe me go back and watch it again.

kind of what I'm saying. It's a worthless excuse or argument.

I saw it. Jerry got trapped into making that distinction, why would he even have said that Jason had these rights/power if they obviously hadn't been available to his successor? Can you see Kraft interrupting the acceptance speech of the Patriots next HC with: "I want to be clear, Joe will have the final say in all coaching personnel decisions".

Please, you know that Wade was brought into the Cowboys as DC, not a head coach, he wasn't treated like one (squelched at the combine) and he didn't have the authority of one, which is why Jerry made the dramatic distinction during Jason's acceptance speech, even if he hedged later (Jerry's style).

I think he said it to remove all doubt. Wade was the HC he did have a say and as Jerry said Wade did let Jason have the input on who would be on the offensive staff to run his offense

"As we speak now, there's varying tenures on our staff," Jones said. "Everybody gets into that, 'Who's got the final say?' Wade really would count on Jason to say what coaches do you think would complement what you do on offense. So Jason's had a big influence on this staff (already)."

And I think who ever is selected to be the DC he will be allowed to bring in people who know his system.

Will Jason have a say final or otherwise, who the DC will be?

BTW that isn't even true, Wade didn't want Hudson.

In this instance yes because he is already in place. Jones interviewed Todd Bowles you think he may be the next DC? If so do you think Jason will want Bowles to bring in coaches who know his system?

Call it perception vs. reality, or whatever you want to say about the past.

But all I know is this. To hear Jerry come out and forcefully, and unmistakably acknowledge Jason Garrett as having final say over coaches and players gives me a fresh enthusiasm for my team. It also gives me a new respect for Jerry Jones.

Thank you Jerry.

With all due respect ,I'm not sure the Mods will let me do business on the site ,but I have some swamp land in Arizona that I can let you have cheap.

Well, right there you have it. Not the same by a long-shot. Wade = 0 influence on the offensive staff, and not 100% of the defensive staff, while Jason gets to choose the DC and confer with him on his assistants as well as (if we are to believe Jerry) choose 100% of the offensive staff. "One of these things is not like the other"

Different circumstance. Look we can go round in circles all day, I do think Wade had quite a bit of say as the HC he failed to do the job and got fired. Jason will be given a chance I would think we both want him to have success.

..........Jerrah is just telling 'em what they want to here guys. It'll be business as usual at valley ranch. Hope I'm wrong, I really do, but ...........that's just Jerrah being Jerrah.:bang2:

I think I've been pretty clear about my dislike for how Jerry handles PJHC's. (Post Jimmy head coaches).

But, again, call me naive, but I sensed something different from Jerry this time.

And, while I respect Hos' view of Jones, I don't completely agree with him. I think Jerry Jones really DOES hurt his team with the perception that the players can bypass the coach and go to him.

So, I think a change IS NEEDED, but I also feel that Jerry meant what he said yesterday.

I think he knows he has a class act, with good judgment, in Jason Garrett, and I think Garrett has the authority that Jerry said he has.

Just listened to Aikman on WFAN talk about how unique Jerry's concession of power to Jason was, and that Jason had to push for it, for what it's worth.

That's what I said. I think now that a PLAYER WHO PLAYED IN THE SYSTEM said it, maybe someone will believe it.
