I'm was very impressed with the way the draft went this year. My confidence in this FO's ability to team build and handle the draft has been solidified after what I saw as another strong year.

-After watching the war room and the results from the last few years its quite clear that this is no longer Jerry's show. He finally kicked himself to the curb. Will McClay is the true master mind of the draft. And clearly Stephen Jones is heavily involved and is well on his way to taking over running the team. I think the last straw with Jerry was the Gregory fiasco. And you can actually see Garretts RKG mantra actually being listened to more.

-I was blown away by how many bad picks there were at the top end of the draft. Not a big fan of a lot of the offensive players that were taken high. The QB's in particular. I think this is one of the worst QB drafts I have seen. The ONLY guy that I think might have a shot to be anything is Watson with Houston.

-It used to be with the Cowboys that all you could really count on was a first round pick. Not anymore. I find myself getting excited about guys all the way into the 6th round. Even a guy like Rico from last year I want to see get snaps.

-The draft was really set up perfect for our needs. BPA draft this was definitely not. And it shouldnt have been. We needed defense and that was the way this draft was lined up. Corners and DE's deep. The two corners we took made the draft for us.

-I would have been happy with BDPA in this draft. If I have one small beef its that they passed on Foster with the first pick. I believe that guy has pro bowl MLB potential written all over him. Taco I think is a solid pick. I think he could be a very good LDE, but to think he can be the war daddy we were looking for, I think its a stretch. But then again, I didnt think we were going to find a war daddy picking at the bottom of the first round anyway. Considering where we drafted, this draft was a home run.

Lots of young talent now on the defense. Marianelli supposedly has HIS type of guys for the defense. I look forward to seeing what he can put together this year.

Will McClay has it wired.

His player evaluations and Stephen Jones taking the reigns in making solid decisions has completely turned this franchise around. And you have to like the fact that they dont go crazy in FA. It took about 5 years and a little luck with the Romo situation, but I think they will finally be out of salary cap hell going forward.

Unfortunately, Randy Gregory, Greg Hardy, Rolando McClain and Jaylon Smith ruined any chances of Reuben Foster coming to Dallas.

I don't think Dallas wanted any more players who were either:
1. Troublemakers
2. Immature
3. Injury prone
4. Drug addicts
5. Not ready to start the season

We took a chance on Jaylon Smith because of the high reward factor he represents. But Jerry Jones said no redshirt players in this draft. That's why we likely didn't take Jake Butt (whom I wanted in the fourth).

Reuben Foster represented possibly three of those abovementioned categories (immature, injury prone, drug addict); therefore, the Cowboys passed on him.

I would have liked him too, but I understand perfectly why the Cowboys passed on him. And even if he has 10 consecutive Pro Bowls, I'll still say based on our situation, we wouldn't (or shouldn't) have picked Foster.

Let's start with the obligational 2nd Rd TE pick that didn't happen......thats a grade higher alone

Then, we finally decided to throw picks at the D.....another grade higher

Then, by golly....we didn't use a high pick o QB, RB, MLB or OL.... That's like hitting it out of the park grade

Drafted exactly what we need.... If it fails, at least we tried for once

Great draft! Just wish we would have landed a Landon Collins type player. With good size 6' 228-230lbs, good speed 4.53 40, and a ball hawk. I really like bigger faster safeties. 220 lbs but with 4.5 or faster speed.

U need the size to lay the hurt on foos.

Not so sure on that one. What were the issues exactly on the Foster kid?

dunce corner? Nope. But he is listening to those around him now. He takes their advice. I believe its more of a vote now. If they gang up on him, he is smart enough to concede.

Gregory and Manziel were the last straw for him and his judgement.

Shoulder injury, failed combine drug test which led to revelation of multiple failed tests in college and got kicked out of the combine for getting into a heated argument with a nurse.

I love the 2nd and 3rd rd picks, but I really wanted that RT that went at the top of the 2nd rd.

Yeah, it's tough to fill each and every hole but that would have been nice too. I believe Awuzie will turn out to be a good catch, though. He's got a lot of possibilities to help the secondary with his exceptional flexibility. Not many DBs can make that claim with any degree of certainty. He can.

Not so sure on that one. What were the issues exactly on the Foster kid?

1. Attitude issues/immaturity (see incident which led to his release from the Combine)

2. Injuries (see reports about Foster's shoulder. Even he himself said he needs to work to get his shoulder strong)

3. Drug issues (I say this based on the diluted urine sample, which is a strong indication of drug use. And while I never heard of him flunking a drug test at Alabama, I believe I saw post that indicated he had fail multiple drug tests at Alabama but they weren't disclosed. I'm trying to check the validity of this information.)
