Very Surprising

certainly would have been a solid pick although not a big playmaker. but he did get the job done and i would have liked the pick

I disagree - he IS a playmaker. I watched the guy play his entire career at SU. He was the pick over Stanback - EASILY.

It is hard to figure out sometimes.....but, we do not know what our leadership is thinking.

well what i meant is he isnt a great playmaker at getting turnovers but yea ive seen him play a couple games at Syracuse and he was great at making the tackle in the open field. yea i probably would have rather have had him than Stanback

I don't think we need a WR or S, We probably don't need a CB. Most of the players left are just going to maybe add depth, that's about it.

He's just a solid player. Doesn't get in trouble. Leader of the defense. Solid. Tampa Bay got a good player and we got a project.

Oh well.

I was VERY dissapointed we did not draft a corner in the earlier rounds...the pick we gave away to the Browns in round 2 in which the Browns recieved eric wright really pissed me off... Jerrah, okay, dude, good job with the quinn deal, but what the f, man? This was a draft that was actually pretty deep in terms of corner-depth, and we reaked none of the benefits. I am sure Jerrah knows how small the number is of 6/7 round guys drafted that actually make an nfl roster...why trade down when a guy you want can fill an obvious need!?!

I've got no opinion on Jackson, but I agree that using a very high 4th rd pick to REACH on a special teams project is just dumb... maybe I'd be less critical if Parcells hadn't wasted pick after pick after pick on freaking special teams busts, but to continue that trend is maddening. A high 4th rounder is one you should use on first day players that slipped...

oh well, let's just pray he's the next Devin Hester....

I hear ya, bro!

This draft hurt us.

There will be many posts about this in the coming weeks.

Why would we address any of those positions, we didn't NEED to address them.

We have plenty of safety depth. I think we do need to get a backup nose tackle , but maybe Ratliff can be that guy for now. We're set at corner for at least another year, but if it comes down to it, this draft isn't over.

That is a need.

That is a need.

We addressed that with a pass rush. And if we had that pass rush all of last year our pass defense would have been ranked right around 10th-15th with Chicago, New England, JVille just to name a few teams.

If Spencer is that kind of player, I hope he starts right away.

I doubt that he is, though. If he was, why was he around at # 22?

This team already had 34 sacks last year.

Can he can get us up to 40+ sacks? Probably.

The other guys were looking for more traditional DE pass rushers. He's a LB/DE pass rusher like Ware is. The DEs taken above him were your 4-3 DE that are tall. 6-6 250-260 or better. Spencer is 6-3 250 or so.

I started a thread on this same topic yesterday.

I think the cowboys draft strategy tells us 1 of 2 things:

1) they didn't think there was any real value after the middle of the second round. If this was true they should have bundled their picks and moved to get a player with some impact. That's why I do not think this is the real reason.

2) they are pretty satisfied not only with the starters on this team but the depth as well. This could either be a real good sign of things to come or gross miscalculation of the talent on this team. I really hope it is the former

This doesn't make any sense.

Are you saying that Jerry is doing this on purpose because we don't need anymore good players?

Or that there just aren't any good players to be drafted?

I think there is another reason.....
