Very thin crop of DE's in F.Agency: who do you like in the draft?

Assuming we don't trade up? We all want Garrett but he's going top 3 probably. Some intriguing players with various shortcomings:

https://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/draft2017DE.php

Nobody is perfect, but I like Charlton of Michigan who right now has risen on most boards to the mid teens. Williams of Bama is a helluva player but as the article above states, he's got Randy Gregory ganja syndrome.

I also like Walker of FSU, Smoot of Illinois and....ahhhh screw it: what do we have to do to get Myles? Yeah, I know it would cost us dearly, but I want him because I think we could win a Super Bowl with him next year. You guys know how good he is.

For me:

1) Myles Garrett: I don't care what it costs...he's the best player in the draft and it's not close IMO

2) Walker of FSU: he's a stud IMO

3) Taco Charlton: He's solid but I don't feel we should have to trade past 16 to get him

Whoever we get will be akin to when we drafted Demarcus Lawrence. I mean there is a chance you hit gold still but....

Also yes to your #1 but the price would be astronomical.

McKinley

I do like Smoot more then others. I think he could develop in a very dispruptive RDE.

McKinley with his upside is a guy I consider trading up for

Smoot is real intriguing....but like the article said, he gets close a lot but doesn't finish. Just a thought.

Which is why the one-win Cleveland Browns would not consider trading out of the spot.

They need talent everywhere.

Solomon Thomas from Stanford

I see his name more and more on here but I also see him projected to be a 3/4 guy. I don't know a ton about him but I do know Stanford guys don't typically tear it up in the NFL. Not saying they're soft, just making an observation. Luck has hit a bit of a lull after a fast start.

He will continue to "rise" just like Aaron Donald did.

Need a guy who can finish the play and get the sack!

Don't care if he's 6-0 or 6-7, 240 or 300lbs, as long as he's a finisher and not some project to develop.

No more of these I look the part "pressure" guys or who hardly bring QB's down.

Admittedly I've only seen his highlights but Takk McKinley looks to be the quick twitched force we need coming off the edge. I'd love to get him and Jabaal Shed or whatever his name is as a free agent. Those 2 and I'm hopeful that we can get some production from our DE from Oklahoma that ran the 4.59 forty. Praying his back issues go away and he is better than advertised. From there we need serious talent in the secondary.

Rob Rang has Dallas selecting WR speedster John Ross (there's the obvious J.R./Dallas angle at play) with #28 in round one in his latest mock.

Rang picked Ross to the Cowboys with edge rushers Takkarist McKinley (29th), Carl Lawson (30th), Charles Harris (31st) and DE/DT DeMarcus Walker (#32) being the next four picks.

I'm very open minded about the draft. The team will fill as many needs as possible ahead of time with free agents, waiver claims and possible trades.

And Ross would bring a speed dimension long missing on offense, which is a huge need.

But Dallas would probably go absolutely nuts watching all those pass rushers dropping to their spot.

We can look at video clips and read various scouting reports on all these draft prospects, but it's often impossible to get a real feel for what kind of individuals we're adding to the roster.

Who has the work ethic? Internal burning desire? Absolute team-first attitude? Etc.

The Cowboys spend millions of dollars every year trying to answer such questions and even they can't always tell.

Line one is I want good players in the draft. I'm not in a twist regarding which side of the ball they play on because we need help on offense and defense.

But if the grades are close, we will go defense.

I'm still holding out some hope for Tapper. But ran a blazing 40 last year. But we need more athleticism, the DE Hall on the other side of Garrett looks like he might be a better pro prospect than a college player IMO.
