I know many celebrated in remembrance this weekend but today is Veteran's Day. Please, take some time from your busy schedule today to quietly remember those who served to give and preserve your freedoms especially the fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice for country and fellow man. Without them this country does not even exist and surely would not have endured.

We all take our freedoms for granted at times, but we are the first nation in the history of the world to give these blessings as rights bestowed from what our founders believed was on high.

To the members of our armed forces and those who supported them in times of need, may you always be remembered with the dignity you so deserve. To the loved ones: family, friends, neighbors and countrymen left behind, we thank you as well for your sacrifice, too.

If you wish please note your service to this country and this includes family members as well.

God Bless and keep you all and may this country endure forever.

My one regret in life is not serving.......... well, and that cute blonde with the great *** in 10th grade. sigh.

Thank you to all who have served in the military. Its the one thing I don't mind paying taxes to support.

As a young Marine, I had the honor and privilege to drive for Col. James Hayes. He served with Gen. Puller in WWII. We would be on some lengthy drives, on occasion, and he would tell me war stories and about some of the people he served with to help pass the time.. I truly treasure those times.

I never met anyone who knew him. Heard he was a crusty and salty old dog.

He was a Marine's Marine, as I was told. At the beginning of my career I served with several WWII Marines who were at the tail end of their careers. To this day, I idolize every minute I got to spend around them. One, in particular, MGYSGT Fred Lester was my first mentor, of sorts and was like a Marine "Daddy" to me.
