NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Saturday to trim their rosters to 53 players. Around The NFL is following each team's moves. READ
Vickerson, 31, started alongside Terrance Knight until a dislocated hip ended his season in late November. He was replaced by 2013 first-round draft pick Sylvester Williams, who is now entrenched as a starter.

The eight-year veteran's fate was sealed when former New York Giants' second-round draft pick Marvin Austin began turning heads in offseason

He might have lingering issues from the injury.

He is big at 6-5, 328. They would have to guarantee his salary if he's on the team for game 1.

I can't determine if Hayden is a vested-veteran or not (i.e. will his salary be guaranteed?).

I don't see any way that Marinelli swaps out his starter for a guy that gets cut. Especially one that fits more as a NT than his 1 Tech position.

It's weird. They list him as a 7th year player that obviously would be vested, but if you look at his seasons there are only 5 listed and only 3 that have enough games to count towards a full season. I guess he was on IR for two of them. If that's the case he would still be vested. Wiki says he was waived one of the times injured. I think Carolina had him for 3 years. So maybe he his vested.

Vickerson is better than Hayden but the hip thing may be lingering and they still have McClain if his ankle is 100%.

IIRC, we picked up Austin midway through the season and then he got cut the following week?

Sometimes a fresh start somewhere else really helps, but Austin did the same thing when he was with the Giants but quickly fizzled.

If we're banking on McClain, we're in trouble. He wasn't a stud when he came here and has seen the field about as much as Matt Johnson has. Color me unconvinced.

Well Vickerson is no stud either. At this juncture you're looking for someone who's an improvement over the incumbent.

I thought I was on the seahawks site for a minute there. Hes no good for this defense if hes not a stud.

Seriously. The "one man's trash is another man's treasure" saying applies here I think, even for defenders cut from "average" defenses.

Yep, there's probably somewhere that shows if a player was on the 53 or IR, but I don't know where to look. Most sites only show games active (46 man roster).

At this point, I'm looking for someone who can get on the field and get in the way.

If Vickerson can do that, he's better than what we have right now.

I would pounce on him as I see no 1T to put on the field right now.

And signing him might mean we can finally end this Josh Brent nonsense.

I would have to think that T. McClain will be the starter over Hayden.

Maybe not in week one, by I'm assuming McClain for sure beats out Hayden.
I guess they'll rotate anyway.
