The music is from the soundtrack to the 1991 Spielberg film "Hook". it is a john Williams composition.miamicowboy21;1692059 said:I loved that CBS intro music and with Summerall setting the stage it was chilling. I loved when Summerall said "the house with the whole in the roof is packed with emotion. Those were the days!!!

In my opinion, football broadcasting on CBS during this time period had reached a pinnacle that remains unmatched to this day; the announcers, the music, the graphics, and the overall presentation was unparalleled. Fox brought a number of long overdue innovations to the game, such as the omnipresent box score, but Fox's overall presentation seems to deemphasize the game, especially lately.
Of course, it you want to watch a broadcast that renders the game a virtual afterthought, watch ESPN's Monday Night Football (and I'm certain you will be tonight ).
Lately, I think NBC's Sunday Night Football is the superior broadcast.
