No kidding. Let's dump on him irrationally because he wanted to be the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

Next time we'll get someone who doesn't want the spotlight. That way the fans will back off and start criticizing appropriately and things will work much better for everyone.

When you receive as much negative feedback as Romo has been about every aspect of your life from your personal life, to your fashion, to your hobbies, and your overall level of play is trivialized, is it really shocking that you become cynical?

Oh, are you a shrink now? If so, please present your credentials. If not, get lost.

You're admittedly biased. Therefore, you're in no position to lecture others about "appropriate" criticism, because anything short of unadulterated praise trips your "rage" wire. Sadly, the beatification of St. Tony continues apace. No matter how much love is showered upon him (and it's been considerable), no matter how many times we shoot down the "start Kitna" threads, no matter how many times we assert that we'd only trade him for a handful of rival QBs in the league, it's never enough for the cultists. Welcome to the backlash.

bbgun: why all the hostility? It's unnecessary. And there are people who aren't shrinks in the world who know the difference between rational and irrational.

This is garbage. I'm on record with criticism of Romo's play going back over the last two years. Whether you recognize it or not, there is such a thing as being both critical and accurate, and there's nothing wrong with expecting our fans to know the difference, or to letting them know that they're barking mad when they don't.

My involvement in this thread started with a response to a (perfectly rational) post by Gemini Dolly that I thought implied Tony Romo just needed to win games to avoid criticism. Good luck characterizing that as a cultist responding to a post that was anything less than unadulterated praise.

Meanwhile, I'm still digesting the profundity of your 'he asked for it, so let's go ahead and dump whatever we can on him' take.

The main problem as I see it is Romo wants be a Brett Favre and the fans/media/Garret wants him to be an Aikman/Brady. I think if we let Romo be a Favre, Romo will play better and have a SB ring just like a Favre.

Actually part of the problem is TONY has been trying to be Aikman/Brady, i don't know if its him or Garrett trying to get him to play like this, but if you watch film from the past year and a half v. his first year and a half the difference is night and day.

Um, maybe because you have a habit of singling out my posts for snarky criticism--posts that didn't address anyone in particular. Not a big fan of puppy dogs or stalkers nipping at my heels.

What arrogant horse****. Like you have a monopoly on the truth or what constitutes "fairness" or "sensibility." How 'bout this: you praise Tony as you see fit, and the dissenters will do the same. Pretty sure they don't need your unsolicited "insight" or interference.

And yet you somehow deviated from his post to mine, which addressed you in no way whatsoever. Funny how that keeps happening. Just for laughs, round up all your anti-Tony posts and put them in a thimble. I'm sure there'll be plenty of room to spare.

Meanwhile, I'm still digesting the profundity of your 'he asked for it, so let's go ahead and dump whatever we can on him' take.

Romo's a willing celebrity, which makes him fair game for parody, scrutiny and ridicule--fair or unfair. If he ever feels he's been wronged, he can man up and defend himself or file a defamation suit.

Its is so ironic and hypocritical of some of ya'll to be defending Romo's "cynicism" and yet when a poster comes on here with a bit of cynicism about the team they are tarred and feathered by some of the exact same ones.

Some people have no grey area. They only see in black and white when discussing the Dallas Cowboys.

They think everyone behind these keyboards are either sitting there while scowling or sitting there with a huge smile on their face.

You are supposed to love everything about this team or hate everything about this team. If you don't decide then you don't belong.

He is 7-5 since he came back from his thumb injury. Translates to a 9-7 season. Not good enough, IMO, some people here think we should be happy with that though.

I'm just really annoyed by this unending "More Ideologically Pure Than Thou" crap masquerading as impartial analysis of the team's problems. Just tired of it. Just tired of people who don't seem to possess any sort of intellectual honesty or restraint endlessly lecturing the rest of us on how we're "bringing everyone down" by not behaving like insufferable, brain dead cheerleaders 24/7. They seethe with contempt for their fellow fans and their favorite patsy, the media, and do precious little to hide it.
