and this just hit me

They put the franchise tag on Hamlin just for insurance knowing they want Kenny Phillips and will lift Hamlins franchise tag if they draft Phillips.

Man I love speculation haha
That is a very interesting theory Catch.

Or what if they draft phillips anyway.

You could see if Hamlin could produce like he did last year while hes on the franchise contract and at the same time you could see if Roy is going to start playing like he gives a damn.

If Hamlin outplays roy again, Move hamlin to SS. If Roy goes back to being the player we all wish he was and Hamlin doesn't live up to expectations, Let hamling sign elsewhere.....

Is this too far fetched?

I don't get a chance to watch much College Football, but didn't Phillips have a down/poor year? And I thought his Combine was o.k. as well, but nothing extraordinary.

Or is that just the media's spin?

I felt he was average in 2007. Nothing spectacular at all.

your right it does look like Johnson, if so they are talking about SS Tyrell Johnson from Arkansas St. He's a sleeper pick but PFW really likes him alot, says he really stood out in their game vs Texas to open the season.

Yep, that has to be him... NFL Draft Scout has him as the #2 SS in the draft.

Roy, you might want to wake up, and soon.

Can anyone make out what that list to the left of Stewart in the first pic might be, or what it might say?

Man... How fun would it be to sit in on those meetings?

I loved in the video how they were apparently making fun of Dave Campo for the Hard Knocks stuff.

For his standards he wasn't that great this year.

I think he should've stayed 1 more year and ended his college career with a ! instead of a .

Great talent though for sure.

6 says Johnson, Arkansas St.

Biggest surprise to me is how how they have Phillips, given he is a FS not a CB.

Yeah, looks like Ark to me.

lol we'll see when Phillips gets to the league.

Landry kinda dwindled towards the end of his college career too.

I was thinking the exact same thing! I would actaully pay attention if I could go to one of these meetings instead of the same old drivel :laugh2:

Looking at the third screen capture, the university names I see, counting from the top, are:

1. Tenn St
2. Troy
3. Mia
4. S Fla
5. K State
6. ARI/ARK St
7. Iowa (Charles Godfrey) or Indiana (Tracey Porter)
8. ARIZ
9. ARIZ

I realize that #8 and #9 can't both be ARIZ, but that's what I see (I am sure that my eyesight is biased since I live in Arizona).

I agree with Hostile that #9 is probably Cason, based on what you see just to the left of Brian Stewart's right ear in the first screen capture. I also agree that #8's name looks to begin with an F. However, I don't see VaTech listed as one of the universities, which should be the case if F is for Flowers.

Wilrey Fontenot above Cason?

No way.

I'll look at it closer on my bigger monitor at home.

LOL. Certainly not Wilrey. I was thinking ARIZ mistakenly appeared twice or that I am seeing double from scrutinizing the screen for too long. Flowers is probably #8.

#5 is Talib. You can see it spelled out pretty good in the screen cap.

I had to know. It looks to me like Cason is #9 on that list.

I say this because if you look behind Brian Stewart's right ear on the top shot you see a letter C. Then if you look in the second picture that is a short name of about 5 or 6 letters. Finally if you look at the 3rd picture you can see "Ariz" just over Stewart's left shoulder.

I have not been able to figure out who #8 is yet, but it looks like an F in the first picture so I'm guessing Brandon Flowers.

I am hoping that this list is not in order because if our scouts have Cason ranked #9, I think we need some new scouts. Noway Cason should be #9 on that list.

Agreed. I should have said/read that University #5 is Kansas.

I'm almost positive #7 is Charles Godfrey of Iowa.

As soon as the camera shifts to a close-up of Stewart (0:34), you can pause it and see the "y" and "IOWA."

Then, as Stewart drifts to the right, you can see the "GODF" at the beginning of his name.

So to me, it looks like this --

(1) Rogers-Cromartie
(2) McKelvin
(3) Phillips
(4) Jenkins
(5) Talib
(6) Tyrell Johnson
(7) Godfrey

One can't help but wonder who has 1st, 2nd and 3rd round grades... especially since some draft gurus project Phillips toward the end of the first round. If we assume that Phillips and Johnson are regarded as a safeties, and that Godfrey is no better than a second round selection, then there are at most four 1st round CBs on the board.
