I have been watching some of the games from this past season. And all i can see is the mess that is Bradie James. I honestly believe he is the worst defensive starter on the team. He appears awkward, slow and shows a lack of instincts. I am hopeful that Wade Phillips can improve his play. If not, i do wish we have a good backup plan. I put together a quick movie with just a few plays that included Roy Williams and Bradie James.

many peeople have said brady james has been doing bad. But the other half of the site thinks bradie does fine, so duck cause there will be bullets flying. nice video i think your right. Bradie looks, very unnatural. maybe ayodel should drop back with the tend instead.

I did rip roy a ton this year though, it just seemed everytime someone was scoring he was in the picture. but it may be more on james

He's definetly not good in coverage and teams exploited that to score on us But 3rd and inches and he usually makes a play. The simple solution is take him off the field when running the cover 2...

Seriously...James, from what that video shows, earned the disrespect given to him by Kitna. He's not athletic enough to do what he's being asked...never will be. Good run stopper for the most part, but definitely a liability in coverage.

1 thing i noticed in that video is in every play shown bradie didn't bump the TE. akin even came over and gave a little bump to stevens in the last clip. bradie has to bump his man especially with no pass rush.

One thing I also noticed is that our CB's barely bump the WR's. I don't think I ever remember one of our players re route a receiver on a jam.

I do. I remember very clearly one time that Ware did it. He knocked that poor bastid ten yards off of his route. IIRC, he saved a would be touchdown on that play. Pretty funny too.

I asked at the beginning of the year why James was sucking. I got hounded. He is the worst player on our defense. He wasn't really terrific in 05 either, just decent.

Right now I think alot of people would accept him going back to decent.

While I don't think he was outright garbage last year, I hope he'll play better this year.

james isnt that bad guys.. hes not the best ILB in the league but hes ok.. i gotta say you really did do a good job with this video.. really shows exactly what the problem is.. its where james releases and where williams is supposed to pick up..

1 - He isn't releasing - he isn't even staying with his man. he is just running backward. They could both react a little better.

2 - he IS bad. That wasn't just it. In Zone coverage, even if a back is in front of him in the flat, he doesn't have the foot speed to get where he needs to be. He is a running game player only.

James isn't capable of dropping back far enough. He's not bad against the run...but he'd be easy to replace.

James is probably our best run stopping LB. He just shouldn't be on the field on passing situations. If Phillips still runs a 3-4 look as a 'nickel defense', you can use carpenter and Burnett on the inside for hook to curl or man the TE.

I'm sure Phillips has already thought of something similar to this and well see for himself, which one of his LB's has the best 'hips' for coverage.
