That's why they have OTA's, Minicamps and Training Camp.

It's go time. Not step off the gas time because I am not sure the lug nuts were tightened time.
Yeah, but if the lug nuts loosen up and the tires fall off while you turning a corner, then you get a defense that was gashed like the 'boys were in Tampa.

We forget sometimes that the other teams get paid too. Sometimes you gotta take a step back, tighten up the fundamentals and then press the gas. The result: shutting down the Giants and Carolina's rushing attack.

LOL! Looks like we're in for the same tent-folding defense we've seen for the past 5 years. Still sticking with the arrogant "WE BETTA THAN U SO WE BEAT U MAN 2 MAN" argument apparently. Funny how the stuff I've been posting about this defense if you look at my last 10 or so posts was about this very topic and one of the (IMO) dumbest players on the defense comes out with this garbage. Why bother with putting players in position to make plays with deception when all they're going to do is blow their assignments cause they're too stupid? I don't enjoy name-calling like this but when these guys are being paid all this money they could at least do a LITTLE more than try and out-muscle the opposition. Use your damn brain and you might not have to rely completely on your physical prowess every play Bradie. Be in position to make a dynamic play for once.

There's a reason Jon freakin' Kitna of all people blasts #56 when he was on the freakin' LIONS of all teams saying he had no freakin clue what he was doing. This defense is so vanilla that even the Lions can expose the coverages. Pathetic.

This year it looks like it's all up to Romo once again to carry the team on his shoulders. It'd be nice if at least ONE TIME the defense who jacked almost all of the 1st round picks on the team for the past 5 years steps up for Romo.

What always goes hand in hand with our supposed Romo December collapses? THE DEFENSE SUCKING TOTAL ****. Romo put us in position to win the game against the Giants 2 weeks ago and the defense folds. Defense folds like a lawn chair vs the Ravens. Romo bobbles the snap vs. Seattle, defense has a chance to get him the ball back to redeem himself? NO let's let Shaun Alexander get a 1st down run when they're obviously running the ball 3 times. Horrible. I don't even want to look back at every game but I guarantee almost every game that Romo supposedly "lost" the game the defense let the other team blast them with the game on the line too. The problem here is in the NFL all of the blame funnels straight to the quarterback. The problem has been the defense all along. Rex Ryan goes to the Jets and has the team talking **** straight to the Pats and Belichick's face. That defense IN 2 REGULAR SEASON WEEKS + THE OFFSEASON is attacking from all directions confusing one of the smartest QB's in the game and NEVER letting him get comfortable. The Dallas defense will NEVER be like that in their current system of "WE STRONGA THAN U, ME SMASH U".

Brady Tinker is embarrassingly awful. Everything he speculated made me want to shoot myself in the face with a shotgun. Or something.
Bradie James is just being Bradie James. He would probably be a great LB next to a Briggs or Ray Ray but as the leader, I dunno man.

Did I mention Tinker is an idiot?

Imagine if we had to play Ryans defense......or Belicheat?

I dont understand why we have to constantly dumb down the scheme?

both offense and defense... :bang2:

Players have to be accountable to know their keys....their plays.....

yet now we have players that want to play straight up........and when teams start to say that its easy to play against the Cowboys because they are so vanilla........

Players will complain that we are so predictable :bang2:

These million dollar babies need to be more accountable......:bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

drives me nuts :(

this team has always been known to be one of the dumbest in the league. luckily the talent level can almost make up for it.

the Commanders have no talent at all. smarts is the only thing keeping them from being last place every year.

Looks like Tony will have to park the bus somewhere, hop on his Corvette, and push the pedal to 30 some points. Hopefully, that will be enough for a win.

Somewhat agree. But we lost the Giants game.

I have to see if this bland approach can work against a spread offense who wants to throw the football around on quick short passes.

That's going to mean better tackling and better technique from this secondary.

And that's also going to mean the front seven had better be ready for these one on one challenges because we are not going to have many blown assignments from the Broncos because all they need to do is block the man in front of them.

I am not really barking about a simplified defense if it works, but it's very interesting that it goes against a typical Wade 34 defense.

I do every one of them and what has he said to that effect.

He has said numerous times the secondary is dumbing things down when it comes to man coverages.

Used the term 'work in progress' too.

And now he just gave Jenkins the starting job because Scandrick had too much on his plate in being the starter sometimes as well as the Nickel CB.

Right now it seems the defense is in a state of flux.

Let's hope they figure out what they do well soon so they can settle down before December gets here.

Well, Bradie needs to start looking closer at his performance. So far through 3 games, he's been below average at best. He's having problems disengaging from O-linemen, and that's when he's recognizing the natural running lanes, which he hasn't done much of.

This has always been James' problem. Parcells once said he was as strong as tissue paper, that's why he had to bulk up over 260. He was horrible in coverage at that weight, now at around 240, he is about average. I was impressed by Carolina's OLB Thomas Davis' ability to shed OL and still get to the ball carrier at or behind the LOS. Thomas, a converted S, is smaller than James, yet more physical_laterally, in coverage and at the POA.

He was a beast last year, but for whatever reasons, he hasn't played anywhere near that level yet.

James picked it up midseason when Phillips went to the 46, and started to have James rushing the passer instead of leaving him in coverage. Otherwise he was having an average season.

Amazing how Rex Ryan takes over a defense in his first year and everything falls into place.

If you follow the presser as religiously as I do then you'd know that when he made those statements was the monday presser after the game and by mid week he changed his tune to "the Giants receivers made tough catches and we're still gonna play a lot of man".

You'd also notice that we played a lot of man against Carolina.

He also this week insinuated that with Jenkins being the permanent starter, we'll play more man because that's his strong suit. Josh Ellis even has a blog about it.

Also, zones are way more complicated than man coverages to learn and execute -as man is more about talent and shutting your man down- so what's your point.

You should also have noticed that since we cut down on the run blitzes and started executing them better, our run D has been superb. It also doesn't mean we don't run stunts at all. There were several plays in the Giants game where we stopped Jacobs for no gain with stunts. You'd also recall a play in the Carolina game where Ware and Brooking tackled Williams for a 5 yard loss on a stunt with Ware going up the middle and Rat shooting upfield.

You just made the very point you were trying to argue against.

The entire defense is being simplified just like Bradie insinuated.

You were so eager to go agaisnt me that you made yourself look stupid.

:laugh2:

Your point in the beginning of this thread is that we didn't know what we were talking about in determining that the defense was having success while being simplified and Bradie was saying to go with whatever is working.

You just pwned yourself.

Brilliant.

We played a lot of man against Carolina because Newman was iso'd on Smith and they have two slow WR's playing opposite him (Muhammad and Jarrett). If we can't stay with them then it's a lost cause. And Carolina rarely spreads it out like the Giants were doing or like Denver is going to do.

And we are blitzing considerably less. Read...

I wonder why we are taking this appraoch now a days? Because like Bradie said it's about looking around after we get burned and no one knows who's at fault. 'Tecmo Bowl'. He used that term several times in recent weeks.

I don't think I ever saw anyone destroy themselves like you did in this thread. Ever. And I been on this internetz a long time.

Amidst all the hand-wringing, our D has only gotten better since the first game of the year. So who cares what Bradie says in an interview?

And as I2obert said... Brady Tinker is indeed a tool. He barely knows what he's looking at, but I guess that makes him a good host.

And after watching the vid, I don't know the big deal is about. Any team would only play its base D if it could totally stop the other offense that way. But it's not like that's all we're running, either. Kind of funny that even as Bradie is talking about base D, the vid shows us coming on a run blitz and stop them for a loss.

Finally, hopefully people knew I was kidding with the "great post" earlier. When Kitna blasted #56 a few years ago we weren't even playing the same defense we are now.

I agree, lets see more before we bury them.

So far its concerning, but they have time to get it right. These next two games are against teams with fairly weak offenses, then we get the bye. Maybe they just needed to finally have something good happen (those 3 turnvoers and 3 sacks last week) to get confidence back.
