If it comes down to Romo vs Vick vs Favre there should be one clear answer.

But we all know there are some who would take Vick over Romo.

And they are nuts.

Some? On the board, you mean? Or in the NFL? Because there are none in the NFL who'd take Vick over Romo. And there are some on this board who'd say anything to get attention.

Except for the fact that he's delusional for ever thinking that he was great. I was a kid, growing up outside of Tampa, when he became the starter of the Bucs and I can remember the fans just completely dogging him. Of course, the dogging was justified by the fact that, in his first year as a starter, he threw 4 TDs and 18 INT in 16 games. He also had 13 fumbles that year.

Ouch.

He does have a ring though.

Dilfer had the disadvantage of working under Dungy when Dungy was staying loyal to some pathetic offensive co-ordinators. But at his best he was a pretty good bus driver.

Vick on the other hand was a pretty dim bulb as a QB. He did not pick things up well. There was a period where Dan Reeves had to stagger his mini-camps and OTAs so that there was very little time between them, because if Vick had too much time off, he'd forget and regress. Expecting Vick to do much more than play sandlot football without a considerable period in training would be a losing bet.

I think that Herm just wanted to hear his own voice. Off season, got to talk about something.

I saw this and was shocked to see anyone compare them at all. I think Vick has almost 2 complete seasons worth of games over Romo right now.

Thats an absolute joke. Vick isn't a QB, he is a playmaker playing the QB position. The problem is, he doesn't make plays that QBs should make. He is an incredible athlete, playing the wrong position.

ESPN is becoming truly awful if you're a real sports fan. When I was a kid, up until middle school I used it like the gospel. But as I've matured, and started to understand sports journalism - they are very very mediocre considering their resources and the monopoly they have on sports entertainment.

Yeah, thats why I hate the idea that 'its all about the rings'.

But Dilfer knows deep down that no one respects him, they just always cite him as the ****tiest modern QB to win a ring.

Speaking of old-school sports journalism vs the new-fangled sports journalism. Check this out. :laugh2:

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on here.

67 games played compares to 39 games played?

Okay, let's look at it.

Vick wins .576% of his games.

Romo wins .692% of his games.

Who would you rather have?

Let's look at TDs. In 28 fewer games Romo has thrown 10 more TDs. So let's calculate that out. If Romo continues at his current pace when he reaches 67 games played he will have 139 TDs to Vick's 71.

Who would you rather have?

I guarantee you that Romo has a higher completion % and QB rating.

That was plain ridiculous.

No secret that I am not a huge Romo fan, but I am a very huge Cowboys fan and I would never trade Romo for Vick, the two shouldn't even be compared.

While Romo does have QB skills, Vick is a RB that was allowed to play QB... Somebody in Vick's past should have said "No son, we need a Quarterback to play the Quarterback position"....

I liked that one too.

Also, he was referring to how people were looking at his wins, not that he was a great QB.

Herm Edwards is an idiot. No wonder he's not coaching anymore. BTW Herm, speaking of winning, you were 54-74 as a HC, that's a .422 record, including going 2-14 last season. You were also 2-4 in the playoffs.

He's a nice guy but he sucks anyway.

I have a feeling that Herm's claim was made simply for debate purposes because, after all, most of these programs on ESPN and NFLN have meetings to discuss what they'll discuss on air, and someone probably thought that this would be an interesting on-air discussion.

But either way, it's a poorly thought out argument on many levels. To begin with, if QB 1 has played almost 30 more games than QB 2 (nearly 2 full seasons), he'll probably have a few more chances to get to a playoff game and win one. Additionally, it took Peyton Manning how long to win his first playoff game? Using Herm's logic, after the 2003 playoffs, who wouldn't want Vick as their QB over Peyton Manning? I mean, Vick had 1 playoff win at the time, and Manning had yet to win one, so obviously Vick was the better QB at the time.

Only at ESPN could they take the Michael Vick nonsense and somehow make it about Tony Romo.

Unreal.

Okay Herm, whatever.

If you ever wanted to get a shot to be a HC again and if you keep saying things like that you won't.

I'll guarantee you that 32 out of 32 teams would take Romo over Vick right now. I'll bet about 25 of them would take Romo over their starting QB right now.

Seems like he was actually calling himself great and patting himself on the back.

He was NEVER "Great".
