Apparently Edwards is as big of a joke as an analyst as he was a head coach.

coolest thing about that clip was dilfer dissing himself. "i was great, and then i sucked." that takes big ones.

Dilfer is a darn good analyst and he does not sugar coat anything, even if he's the fall guy.

He's also dead on about the 2 year lay off affecting Mike Vick athletically and technically as much as anything. As well the flaws in Vick's game prior to his incarceration.

I highly doubt Mike Vick is as athletically dynamic as he was prior to his incarceration and that was his bread and butter in this league.

Dilfer had the disadvantage of working under Dungy when Dungy was staying loyal to some pathetic offensive co-ordinators. But at his best he was a pretty good bus driver.

Really? Dilfer went to his only Pro-Bowl in 1997 when Dungy was his HC. That was the best he ever was in his career. He stunk with the Ravens in 2000 but their defense was so good it didn't matter.

I don't know where the myth that he was a good "bus driver" came from but he wasn't a very good QB after he left the Bucs. He threw 43 TDs and 49 INTs after he left the Bucs, not a very good "bus driver" if you ask me. He also went 20-17 over that span.

His best two years were in Tampa Bay under Dungy in 1997 & 1998 when he threw 21 TDs in each season. He never threw for more than 12 after that.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on here.

67 games played compares to 39 games played?

Okay, let's look at it.

Vick wins .576% of his games.

Romo wins .692% of his games.

Who would you rather have?

Let's look at TDs. In 28 fewer games Romo has thrown 10 more TDs. So let's calculate that out. If Romo continues at his current pace when he reaches 67 games played he will have 139 TDs to Vick's 71.

Who would you rather have?

I guarantee you that Romo has a higher completion % and QB rating.

That was plain ridiculous.
Normally I'd point out that in 28 less games, Romo's also thrown *ONLY* 6 less INTs, putting him on pace for 79INTs by his 67th game...

BUT...lets face it, apples and oranges here.

A stat not shown is pass attempts: Vick-1,730 Romo-1,307. By his 67th game, Romo's on pace for 2,245 pass attempts.

Look at completion stats: Vick-930 Romo-831. By his 67th game, Romo's on pace for 1,428 pass completions.

At that point Completion percentages would be: Vick-53.8% Romo-63.6%

Romo is a pure passer. Vick is not. Vick is an athlete with some passing ability. You want a quarterback, you go with Romo.

If it comes down to Romo vs Vick vs Favre there should be one clear answer.

But we all know there are some who would take Vick over Romo.

And they are nuts.

LOL

so according to herm, of all the teams in the league and all the qbs in the league, its Dallas that needs a new qb and Vick knows how to win more than romo..

LOL....Herm!!!! You know who doesnt know how to win, Herm edwards and Carl peterson, that coupling had a 110% chance of failing!

A couple things we know about vick, He Likes drugs, particularly Weed, he likes trouble, He is a complete Liar, He has a poor choice in friends and he is basically A really really really really bad guy.

Lol Herm. Good luck in the future, your going to be the rooney rule qualifier and probably nothing more.

You forgot the point about Vick also being a horrible investor.

How did he possibly blow thru all that money?

Normally I do not agree with you about Tony Romo. On this post I will simply say we totally agree.

And not give a penny of it to me. That's the part that insults me.

cute comment at the end of the video.

realize this is ESPN. if they all agree, it's boring, and then nobody talks about it on CowboysZone the next day.

I sincerely doubt Herm would take Vick over Favre or Romo.

Mike Shula, offensive co-ordinator. Terrible. Dungy should have fired him. The Bucs would have gone to the playoffs sooner/more, if they had just had some semblance of a decent offense. Shula's subsequant career has not been great.

Dilfer's not a QB that will carry any team, but if you give him decent weapons, he'd play decently. His good numbers in Tampa were due more to Tampa's defense than to sterling offensive setups.

No kidding! Herm and Carl...ugh. Vick did not go down because of a momentary failure of decision making in a stressful situation.

Ya, I saw this yesterday and was confused why Herm even brought Romo into the discussion..Romo had ZERO to do with anything they were talking about and pretty sure they just threw his name in there because he's "Romo"...what a joke..

What does Herm comparing vick and romo have to do with his ability to coach? Herm has no agenda like people on this board to defend romo. With the logic on here that his statement is related to his coaching ability, what does wade's statements defending romo say about his ability to coach? Wade must not know anything about coaching defending romo, when you look at his record as a coach in the playoffs.

Its funny how so many people think a person doesnt know what hes talking about when they say something that insults a person's personal affinitiy for a player. But if they say something you agree with then they are the smartest commentator there is regardless of what kind of player/coach they were. Herm says what he thinks, and that doesnt make him a bad coach.

Vick might be a terrible person and a so so qb, but put the kind of talent around him that romo had after 4 seasons on the bench and perhaps he has better stats since thats what most people on here judge a qb by, because if they knew what they were talking about, they would look silly for defending romo the way they do. But vick did get to an NFC championship game, and was the first qb to win in Lambeau in the playoffs, does romo have that, Nope. But I woudlnt want either one as the qb on my team!

It was a stupid comparison that apparently was not randomly selected. It makes him look as dumb as he sometimes did making decisions on the sidelines.

Honestly it was not that hard to grasp.

Somehow I think your post will be overlooked and everyone will just move on dissing Herm. But if you go back and listen to the segment, Herm never said that he would take Vick over Romo. He said he would take Vick over Favre, and so would I. In regards to Romo, he pointed out the fact that Vick has two playoff victories while Romo still is looking for his first. Romo is under the microscope and will be until he proves that he can handle the pressure and win a playoff game.

One thing that I can say abour Romo in comparision to Vick, they both put the ball on the ground an awful lot, and if Romo ever wants to become an elite QB, he needs to correct that flaw.

Nothing. As I said above, "Romo" = haterade sipping viewership, which means more ratings.

Look how successful they were on this website alone, getting us to post up the video, watch it, comment on it, etc.
