That last part about Iupati 'grabbing' wasn't too good. I do not think he can play Left Tackle in the NFL. Stick him at Guard and leave him there.

Forget Iupati, trade up and get a good tackle...

Probably the deciding factor is what the staff thinks of Brewster. If he is a future starter, we don't need to go Tackle early. If he isn't, we probably need to draft a Tackle in 1st round.

I wouldn't mind taking just about any young OL talent in the first round, but I would much rather get a ballhawkin safety if we can swing it.

True but he hasn't been in the fire so right now we need to draft a tackle. Brewster might end up being a guard and then what? A year wasted...

I don't think we have the ammunition.

Besides, after the RW debacle, it is going to be hard for Jerry not to get taken to the cleaners by every GM who hears his phone ring. They know he will buckle under pressure if he has developed an infatuation with a player.

Besides, I'm not convinced we need to trade up anyway because Free can play LT (6' 6", long arms, great feet) so we can try and find a RT guy in the second round.

If we can't trade up we might have to reach. I'm not sold on Free playing left tackle..

Anyone else get the feeling that Iupati might be one of those February wonders who doesn't get drafted nearly as high as people think when the draft actually happens?

I dunno, I just have an uneasy feeling that he's going to be another one of those guys who is huge but doesn't have good feet and doesn't concentrate all the time. Sounds like the line we have.

How about a guy without the great measurables but with outstanding technique, desire, and maybe a little athleticsm?

I think he's still going in the 1st round, but in the picks 22-27 range. Yeah, not much of a bump down from 15/16, but still.

btw, I'd wish Mayock would have went into more detail about Bruce Campbell and Ducasse. Whenever analysts just talk about the top 3 and leave the rest, it leaves me wanting for more.

DC i did some research on Iupati, still going to do some more, (I just ordered some draft stuff on players etc) where most of them were saying that Iupati grabs too much. Yet, you have to realize also his background, only playing football for a few years, he might not understand yet about grabbing. The next thing I saw DC was his shoulder injury last year, he said he was just recovering from the shoulder surgery.

And in the senior bowl which he should have realized that he was on display he was up to 340. Iupati said that he is down to 320 not and a little quicker, (i posted most of this stuff in the draft zone area on him). Why didnt he realize that before he started playing the game and reports were also that he was partying too.

Is this another flozell adams type player, only gets in top shape for his contract year?

You just cant grab in the pros, you have to punch so do u think his shoulder issue kept him from punching so much or he got fat and lazy in the senior bowl?

You definitely have to be careful about OL and shoulder injuries due to the incredible amount of force they have to exert play after play. This is what drove Boselli out of the league if I recall.

Hell no. Our biggest OL need is LG.

So long as Flo can play another year this is true.

Does anyone know what his injury was?

Whoever we draft won't have been in the fire either. At least they have a better idea of what they have in Brewster.

I think that showed in the game against Minnesota. I like Kosier, but if we're going to field a power line, let's completely field a power line.

I don't know if Iupati can be that player, but imagine an interior three of him, Gurode and Davis. That's a lot of beef knocking back the middle of the defense.

We have Kosier, Holland, and possibly Brewster for LG.
Behind Flo we have a swing tackle in Free, then it's McQuistan..

Tackle depth appears to be a bigger need imo.

That's not the point. The point is that we need somebody we can groom to play tackle eventually when Flo wears out and then Colombo...
