While I do like what Roy is saying in here I would rather the team move on without him.

Enough with the waiting around for him to get back to being the dominant player he once was and then seeing every offense we come up against target him.

He has a cap hit of $6.6 mil for the 2009 season so there is no way he's coming back unless he's willing to restructure his contract and be prepared to once again play a part time role for this defense.

Going to be interesting to see how Jerry handles this one.

I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him.

He may have been useful in the Ravens game....:)

We didn't miss Roy last year. In terms of large runs against us, we had 10 20yd+ runs and 3 40yd+ runs in 2008 vs. 2 and 9 in 2007. Roy was not a presence in the box in 2007, no tackles for loss, no sacks. The ovewhelming majority of his tackles were against receivers/TE's as would be expected given his coverage liabilities. He did nothing during the games he played in 2008, he was just a coverage liability that we we increasingly trying to hide.

We do need a better safety than even a healthy Watkins/Killah, but that isn't Roy. Doubt he would get more than a third of his current salary on the free market.

I want him back. I think that will mean he has to restructure his deal.

I suspect he's gone, and while many will celebrate those same people better not say a damn word if he winds up elsewhere (say, New England) and starts playing well again.

I can see it now: "Jerry screwed up again!!!!!"

True. The kid can tackle.

When was the last big tackle he made? Honestly? Lately, all I can recollect is Roy trailing receivers as they go into the end zone. I like Roy well enough, but he hasn't shown me anything in a long time, especially to justify the cap hit.

I would like to see RW38 have is deal restructured and see him and more of the 46 defense.

Cut him and sign a younger, cheaper player that can tackle AND is good in pass coverage.

Again, Roy did not play when Wade was actually coaching. He got injured when Stewart was coaching this team. I would not release him, if Wade is going to take over the defense permanently. Bradie James looked like garbage when Brian Stewart was coaching as well, and he turns into a 8 sack machine. Keith Davis was playing much better and Wade was hiding his liabilities when he took over.

He's nowhere near worth his cost.

If he comes back, it has to be cheap. As it is, Dallas is a team that will need cap room, and he's one of a few underperforming players who can provide a good chunk by being cut.

It wouldn't shock me to see him go elsewhere and return to being a good player. He's not that old so there's probably a good player in there somewhere. Apparently, we just don't have anyone who can bring it out of him.

If not for the continuing TO saga, the most interesting thing to watch for this offseason would be what the Cowboys do with RW38 and Anthony Henry.

I really like the guy..I do hope we keep him also, but like what everyone is saying hes going to have to take a pay cut. He tackles really well and would be fine in situational downs.
