Again, Roy did not play when Wade was actually coaching. He got injured when Stewart was coaching this team. I would not release him, if Wade is going to take over the defense permanently. Bradie James looked like garbage when Brian Stewart was coaching as well, and he turns into a 8 sack machine. Keith Davis was playing much better and Wade was hiding his liabilities when he took over.
I think he would have helped on special teams as well.

Again, I must have missed these good tackles Roy Williams-the-safety has made the past 3 years.

How many years in a row is he going to have to play horrendous for people to realize that the old Roy ain't coming back?

I'll admit. Whenever I think of RW38 I do have visions of the old Roy dancing in my head. That guy used to straight crush people and leave them sitting on the field in crumpled piles of hurt. He just sucks in space. Why can't they devise a scheme that keeps him close to the OS?

Because the game changed since 2003.

Much more spread on offense. The FB is dead for the most part and he was replaced by the 3rd WR or a second TE who is way more athletic than a 'Roy Williams'.

The only scheme where he wil be successful is the one where he never has to defend anyone 10 yards past the LOS. He has poor ball skills and he can't run.

The problem is that now he's a target. So opposing offenses will look to throw on early downs if he's the starting SS for us.

And from his comments that are going to be presented tomorrow night with New Scruggs it seems that Roy sees the writing on the wall.

I can never understand why people advocate cutting players when we have no one really capable of replacing them.

I'd be all for cutting Williams if we already had someone on the team or picked up someone better than him. I remain unconvinced that Keith Davis, Pat Watkins and Courtney Brown meet either of those standards.

Davis was a little closer than I expected. He plays hard, but is just as big of a liability in coverage (if not more of one) and isn't quite as strong in run support.

Bottom line is that Williams is better, so we need to keep him until we have someone who is better than Williams.

I hope Roy stays, even if he does have to take a bit of a paycut.

And more and more, I'm intrigued with the idea of him playing some LB.

Count me in with everyone who wants Roy back, obviously with a new contract.
Hopefully he returns to early Roy form and leads the Dallas D next season.

Cut him and sign a younger, cheaper player that can tackle AND is good in pass coverage.
:hammer: We want to get better, but we want the same useless junk on our team.

One of the dumbest questions I've ever heard...

"I asked if he plans to be healthy and on the field with the Dallas Cowboys organization when organized team activities beging this spring."

I would have loved to have heard this:

"Nah man. I figure I'll let myself get to about three twenty-five, three fity. I'm gonna skip OTA's and just sit on my couch eatin' WingStop wings and fries 'til camp starts. With the good graces of my lord and savior Jesus Christ, I'll be able to get off the couch and walk onto the field at camp at my playing weight and in shape."

But seriously, I was in the boot Roy Williams hatewagon this past season (and season before that). Yet here I am again this off-season pulling for him to get back to who he used to be on the field. If he can move to LB and it works, great. Because I think his time as an NFL safety is nearing its end (if not already there). I'd love to be proven wrong though.

My favorite part of the interview is where he states the defense finallly played well at the end of the season - when Roy was nowhere to be found because he was hurt, lol.

I hope he comes back.

I think he still has some good playing time ahead of him.

Roy really is "living right" now because got lucky and he was hurt through the wasted season last year.

Had he been healthy and playing, every bad defensive play would be heaped onto him.
