I think misread is a better representation...it's not like he didn't run hard or anything.
I don't think so. Check out his body language as soon as he realizes the defender has better position than him. Crayton does this a lot. If he's not in perfect position to catch the ball he just doesn't go after it. It's called attacking the ball -- Crayton doesn't do it.

there is some validity to that...but once PC sees the ball isn't where he thinks it should be the backer has reacted and he has NO chance to even break up the pick, IMO

It's debatable, obviously, because we're talking about reactions in tenths of a second. But the ball is in the air and Crayton is looking to locate it when he's around the 15 yard line. Between that point and the point of the catch at the 2 yard line there's virtually no effort by Crayton to get to the ball.

That play in a nutshell is what worries me about this O. Romo always wants to attack -- and I love that -- but Garrett sometimes needs to take that away from him.

Here was a situation where we are at the 30 something, on the road with a 7 point lead. You have to take what the D is giving there and not go for broke.

That is what the D was giving us there. We had 1-on-1 coverage from a TE with no safety help over the top. You don't get much better matchups than that.

It's not like he was throwing into triple coverage.
