Bill Parcells was a puppet coach?
:lmao2:
Yea..hired so Jerry could build his stadium. Of course he drove him away too. I notice you don't mention Chan Gailey, Dave Campo, Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett. Tired of discussing this. If Jerry had a hand in the Cowboy Dynasty then he also had a hand in destroying it. All you have to do is look at the Cowboys history from 1960-until the end of the Dynasty and then look at what we've been since. It seems like two different organizations. It shouldn't take 20 years to compete for championships when most teams in the league compete. Have a good day. Lets hope the Cowboys turn the corner this year.

LOL only our fanbase can take a thread that is honoring one of the most prolific owners, not in just football, but in all of sports and turn it into some back and forth between whiny middle-aged men.

Some of you need some serious help.

It's really no surprise when you see who is leading that charge. Some dudes need to get a grip. Yikes Took a franchise losing that much money a month and turned it into a 4 billion dollar machine. anyone who is in business would love that.

Jerry has his faults but I love the guy.

He is kind of like an old bumbling drunk uncle. He is family and he is the face of the team I grew up loving. If I was old enough to remember life pre Jerry...maybe I would feel different.

His passion, the way he loves the team is second to none. His stubbornness is his fault but I have no doubt about his love and dedication to the team.

:laugh:at people lauding Jerry's business acumen. Who cares? Do you read quarterly financials and cheer for Apple and Google?

Even if you accept that he ran a great ship 20 years ago (I don't), he's been a total failure since 1996 in a sport measured by Lombardi trophies. If we were to win the SB this year, the dry spell will have ended 22 years after it began. A super bowl desert due mainly to the arrogance and pride of an owner who didn't care about winning unless he got credit for it. It's comical that at one point we had 5 hall of famers and yet never even sniffed a title after the '95 season.

Bottom line is he made one great decision 30 years ago in hiring Jimmy Johnson and since he kicked him out things have gone down hill. You're a blind homer if you don't see that.

Jason Garrett... the reigning Coach of the Year coming off of a 13-3 season.

Fwiw, the jimmy/Jerry parting was as much on Jimmy
I knew Jimmy was leaving before that announcement. You could see it in his face everytime he talked. I don't think Jimmy would have stayed a long time but I do think he could have stayed a few more years and we could have won at least one more title. The big problem I have with Jerry is the 20 years since. If we would have continued to have great success like we did after he fired Landry I wouldn't have had a problem with him. But that's water under the bridge now. I didn't really intend to go on an anti-Jerry rant. I enjoyed his speech sincerely and it was great seeing all the old players. It really took me back. I hope we see a lot more Cowboys going in the Hall in years to come. There is still some more that needs to go in. :)

He failed Tony, imo.
Ignoring the oline for so long and letting the defense rot to were they were the worst in Cowboy history were grave errors.

Oh yea no doubt. Tony would probably be a Hall of Famer if he would have built that OL earlier and gave him a great running game so he wouldn't have had to try to do everything by himself. Tony played with a lot of knuckleheads too. And that defense has just been awful. That has to be fixed or it's going to be another wasted era.

lol at LT's positive, uplifting, "come together" speech being political.
If what LT said was in regards to US citizens coming together then sure I'm all for it and more power to him, I took what he said quite differently, but maybe I missed his meaning...and maybe I did not.

Who cares? Genius, the deals he made with networks drove up the earnings in the NFL, which led to profit for owners and helped with contracts for players. We are discussing HOF worthiness.

No one is denying there have been some bumps and that we went through a "dark age period" with Jerry - THE LEAGUE AS A WHOLE did not, and that has a lot to do with Jerry Jones. You are arguing with no one on the points you are making.

The least some of you can do is use the little brain power you have to make a sensible freakin' post. I mean, this is some embarrassing **** being posted in this thread. Have some damn dignity, people.

LOL so glad I'm not the only one who thought this. It's sad that not everyone can get behind something as basic as that, but that's life.

Are you surprised? You can spot those people a mile away! I've cut friends out of my life when I hear the garage they spew. I start to question why I was friends with them so long. Kicked my best friend to the curb after 25 years whose mom was an immigrant and hates them. Baffles me really, and now he walks around all high and mighty. I had to remind him I remember when we were younger you didn't have a pot to piss in and I covered all your bar tabs without question. When he started his attitude on me with "Italians" that was enough. I said I think this friendship has come to an end.
