25 and 52 for 18 and 80 makes a lot of sense to me. There's a ton of value in the 2nd round and I'm not crazy about anybody at 18 besides Cooper, Warmack, and Richardson.

I'd be happy with 23 and 52.

We're not getting that either. They could move up to around 14 with that kind of value. The 23 and 25 suggestion is completely absurd.

Vikes make a much more intriguing trade partner for me than ATL.

Pick 23 or 25 and a late 3rd or early 4th and a late 7th would add depth to our draft haul without moving down past that mid 20's range where there are some guys I like expected to fall. If we get the 3rd rounder we might need to swap picks in round 4 with them giving us their lowest selection for a move down of about 6 spots for us.

My mock in the round 4 scenario would be something like:

23:DJ Fluker OT
47:Kawann Short DT
80:DJ Swearinger S
102:Ryan Swope WR
114:Oday Aboushi OG
151:Nick Casa TE
185:Zac Stacy RB
229:Jeff Tuel QB

FWIW I did this exercise but still prefer Richardson, Warmack or Cooper at 18 to this by a long shot.

In the above scenario, my mock:

23: Datone Jones LDE/DT
47: Terron Armstead OT/OG/TE
80: Phillip Thomas FS
102: Brandon Williams DT
114: Kenny Stills WR
151: JC Tretter OG/C
185: Cooper Taylor SAM/SS
229: Quanterus Smith RDE

Jennings, IMO, is not that deep threat WR that he used to be or that the Vikings desperately need. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Jennings is nobody. I'm saying that they have nobody who can stretch the field and make them honor the deep threat. Nobody that will make anybody move a Safety out of the box like Harvin could.

Perhaps I stated that poorly.

I consider Jennings more of an outside receiver and deep threat that the great slot guy, Harvin. Harvin does his damage underneath and then bust long runs with his moves and burst. If anything, , he seems to bring the safeties in more than out.
Minny is paying Jennings like a WR1.
I agree he may not be that anymore. But they seem to expect it.
They do need another WR. Few rookies add a ton in year 1, so I'm sure Ponder is glad they brought in a couple of vets

I love this.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we traded down to MIN's 23rd pick, acquire an extra 3rd rounder, and selected Sylvester Williams in the 1st round.

I would be more than good with Williams plus a fourth and fifth.

I'd tell them you give me 23 & 25 for 18 and we've got a deal. I know they wouldn't take the deal but I'd at least try.

18 and 47 for 23 and 25 if they are desperate and all our guys are gone.

Why would the Cowboys also give their 3rd rnd pick? Makes no sense.

I know trade scenarios from fans want to see the points match up as best as possible (I do that too)...but, I would want to pick up additional pick(s) from any trade down..thus, if w trade the #18 for the #23 or #25, then get a 3rd from them, let's not swap pick for pick...

to me, trade down = we have more than 6 picks

Dallas still gets the slightly better deal in that trade he described.
Dallas pays 1080 and Minny pays 1100.

I keep seeing a lot of people wanting any team that trades up dallas (and dallas only, btw) to pay way, WAY over market value. In reality, in the last dew years, teams trading up out side the top few overall picks of the draft have actually underpaid to move up vs the value chart.

Once the draft is away from th very top (and usually for a franchise QB only) the crazy deals stop and the value chart kicks in almost every time, or at least to within 5% or so.

I do agree with Fredd, that if we trade down, it'd be nice to add a pick or two. That can be done if some late rounders had. Or maybe drop down in Rd 2 and pick up and extra 4th. That works.
