KC now has a serious draft on, they can virtually do anything they want.

Yeah except the problem is Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards are running it.

Then again even edwards can find some players with that many picks.

Our only hope is that we give him and Newman hugely backloaded contracts in hopes of no salary cap.

1st Round
No. 5
No. 17

2nd Round
No. 35

3rd Round
No. 66
No. 73
No. 82

Problem is, I think the 2nd round is where the best value is in this draft. I guess they have enough ammo to move around, though.

.... Do the Chiefs need a corner? That would be very bad for us.

Hopefully they get Matt Ryan and another DE to replace Allen, or we could be screwed.

I think they go either Vernon Gholston or Chris Long. Then at 17 they look at LB CB Safety.

Value or not, thats a hell of a draft lineup.

For the life of me, I don't understand why you trade an established top defensive player for picks to find a potential top defensive player?

Sorry... I don't get it...

They suggested on total access that putting that kind of money into re-signing him and paying the number 5 pick was just way too much for a couple of players. I think the got a pretty nice deal out of it. The Chiefs need some serious building blocks and a new coach.

The Vikings run defense is the best in the league - top 3 at least........it's their pass defense that kills them.

I still don't know why the Chiefs wanted to trade him, anybody know?

basically because he said he wouldnt sign a long term deal with them

I think he wanted the mega deal and the Chiefs wouldnt give it to him because of his issues, so he wanted to be traded

I really think the Vikes got hosed (again)

Absolutely. I don't know who would pay that much in picks or pay for a guy who could put in the corner for at least half of a season if he gets into any trouble at all.

VIKES GIVE UP THREE 2008 PICKS FOR ALLEN
Posted by Mike Florio on April 22, 2008, 11:17 p.m.
Holy crap.

The Vikings, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, surrendered their first-round pick in the 2008 draft and both third-round selections for Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen.

The Chiefs will now add the No. 17, No. 73, and No. 82 overall selections to the No. 5, No. 35, and No. 66 picks, giving them six selections among the first 100 picks.

If true that is too much for Allen, I like his motor but three picks???

Right on the money David.

Living in the middle of Chef territory I can tell you the Chef fans are livid. They don't understand this trade mainly because they don't trust Edwards and Peterson. I'm lovin' it!

Chiefs could rule the draft

Get used to hearing the Chiefs' name called this weekend. Kansas City, after its trade of Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to Minnesota on Tuesday night, now has a league-high 13 picks in the draft. The Chiefs got a first and two third-rounders (the extra third rounder made the deal worthwhile to the Chiefs) from Minnesota.

The Chiefs now have the No. 5, No. 17, No. 35, No. 66, No. 73 and No. 82 picks in the draft. Wow.

The Chiefs can move up essentially any time they want in this draft. It could help them secure a quarterback late in the first round if they want make a run at a Brian Brohm, Joe Flacco or a Chad Henne, Trading Allen hurts, but there's no denying, the Chiefs got a lot for him and will have plenty of flexibility this weekend because of it.

Chiefs, NFL draft, Jared Allen

Wow. KC and Atlanta could have some fun this weekend if they do it right.

WOW. The Chiefs have a ton of options now. One good draft could really get them back to success rather quickly.
