This thread could be retitled, "The potentially damning consequences of letting the Detroit game slip away", but I digress.

The Vikings game is important for purposes of just getting into the bye with a .500 record ten games into the season. Let's be honest. The Cowboys aren't likely to go into New Orleans and beat the Saints the following week, especially with a red hot Drew Brees and a revenge-seeking Rob Ryan. And before anyone tosses out 2009, I'll point out the defense was much better in 2009.

After the bye, the Cowboys face the Giants in New York, who've won two straight with the Raiders up next. Three straight wins is very likely for Big Blue. No, they aren't quality wins, but the Giants are the streakiest team I've ever seen. Even after you've left them dead and buried, if you give them so much as a sliver for an opening, they'll burst through it like Jason Voorhees. We've seen that movie before...and its sequel...and it's next sequel. That's who the Giants are -- the blade-wielding killer who wouldn't die (Yes, I've been watching AMC the past couple weeks). After the Raiders, the Giants host Green Bay. They won't be favored, but if they've got their swagger and machete back, they could score the upset.

If that happens, the Cowboys will be 5-5 going into New York to face the 4-6 Giants. The Cowboys need this game against Minnesota just to stay a game ahead of them.

Scary...

Happy Halloween, folks.

Although the Giants won this weekend, they did not score ONE touchdown. They are awful. We simply need to take care of business. We control our own destination. If we can't beat the Vikings at home, we deserve to sit it out - they are more awfuller than the Giants - which is not easy.

The bottom line here is - we have pretty much a cake walk of a schedule and well.............what do you know - a .500 record to show for it.

It is what it is and it ain't good.

Is it me, or is Garretts hair getting even redder?

This game will be the difference between playoffs or not. I think we all have this one chalked up as a win, i.e. 8-8 or 9-7.

If we lose, 7-9 is more likely and that should not win the division.

More injuries will happen and Dallas has to win this one to keep their heads above the water.

I agree this game is huge. if we are 4-6 going into the bye we are done.

Very important game. Romo and Dez also need to do well and get back on the same page. I'm more worried about Ginger's ability to create a game plan.

I am not affraid of the giants and there is not 1 player in the cowboys locker room that is either . The giants are garbage .

Agreed. Normally I would be worried but even in their wins the Giants have looked petty mediocre. That offense is putrid and their defense, heck I can't even judge that when you are playing Josh Freeman and the Vikings and Vick/Barkley and the Eagles. The Giants are just awful this year.

But... isn't part of our 8-8 legend that we always beat some team that we shouldn't? In 2011 we won at 13-3 San Francisco. Last year we beat the Bungles and Steelers. I think we beat the Saints and/or Pack.

Flamboyant! I like it. Mufasa!

If we don´t win this one, we might as well lose every remaining game, Draft a good QB, fire the HC and all the personnel that has something to do with him and start from scratch.
This is by no means a knock on Romo, I think he is a heck of a QB but at the end of the day if we can´t win a home game against an awful Vikings team it would just cement that this whole Garrett regime has been a fail of epic proportions.
Saying that I believe we will win by a wide margin.

I don't think the Giants or Eagles win more than six games. I don't see the Commanders with more than seven.

Dallas needs to beat the Vikings for sure. Eight games will win the division.

Then they'll get ripped to pieces at home by Seattle or San Francisco in the wild card.

As atrocious as the Cowboys defense is there isn't a team left on their schedule that doesn't concern me. In the all the years I've been a Cowboys fans I've never seen their defense this dreadful it's setting futility records. They just gave up a franchise record 623 yards that's absurd! The Lions even put up 143 yards on the ground.

I doubt this in either case. Seattle's act on the road is not impressive at all. And San Fran I don't fear them either. They've thrown up some stinkers this season. The Cowboys can beat any team in this league especially at home. And they definitely aren't going to get ripped to pieces at home either.

Wait? Thought that "last" game was the important one? Now? This upcoming game is? I can't keep up.
