Vikings release WR Adam Thielen

Wow...he was open a lot and Cousins wasn't looking for him.
I get that with Jefferson on the team, but still....
Everyone likes to make fun of our FA signings, but Thielen would be a definite upgrade to our WR group.

70 catches on 103 targets
716 yards

Cannot classify that as a bad year. He's getting older and isn't quite the same but he'd be a solid #3 receiver. Just wasn't quite worth his contract.
for him thats bad. His standard. Hes 33 also.

A few years ago, I would say I would be interested. But now, I am not so sure.
His production has really dropped off though I don’t know if it’s the other guys getting more targets or him not getting open

if he can get slower, I say get him. He would be slow enough for dak to find him and almost slow enough to hit in stride.

Cousins was too busy settling for dump offs to TJ Hockenson. He was targeted 86 times in 10 games, averaged 8.7 yards per reception and 6.0 yards per target.

70, 716, 6 is not a bad line.

It’s not Tee Higgins or Jaylen Waddle. But it would work well with Gallup
Those would be decent numbers for Gallup this year. Maybe not good enough for his cap hit, but it wouldn't be the worst production. I do think he can produce more now that he will get a full off season and can remain healthy. Gallup and Theilen will have nearly the same cap hit in 2023.

I think it was since Jefferson was drafted.
That’s possible. Just not getting the targets
I prefer a bigger guy to lineup outside with Lamb moving around and in the slot
I’d make an inquiry about Evans

Gallup has a $13.8MM cap hit this year. Thielen was released and therefore will get a new contract with a much lower cap hit.

Cons:
His reception/yardage production has been so so the last fews years
He is 32

Pro's
30 TD's over the last 3 years
Has caught over 70% of his targets each of the last three years
Even at 32, his style of play ages well

They could do better, but Theilen would still be a decent short term addition
