The Vikings traded a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th and a 7th round pick to get the Pats 29th (!!) pick.

And all Jerry gets for the 18th pick is the 31 pick (quasi 2nd rounder) and a third rounder?

Buyers market. Different players people valued at different times. We got an extra pick in best part of draft and got the guy we wanted. We gta stop worrying bout what everyone else does

Let me guess, you are trying to make a point?

don't tell me the cowboys got the guy they wanted when they were even trying to dump out of the 31 spot..

Not really hard to figure out. One of the greatest football minds of all time calls the shots in NE...an egotistical moron calls them in Dallas.

was the 2nd the 33rd pick in the draft, or the 65th pick

Fair trade for the Vikes. We got a little less value on our trade.

New England's first pick doesn't come until the 52nd pick in the draft now too. If JJ had done this, all you would hear is "It's like 2009, we're dropping way too far."

If anything, the NE move suggests that smart money is on the middle rounds, not the first.

This draft is heavy in the middle. It was a buyer's market for the 18th pick.

Vikings got almost exactly what the value chart said they should get.
I mean almost the exact number :
Pats paid 640 and Vikes paid 649

The Cowboys got 80 points less than htey should have by the chart in their trade --which should have been at least another 4th rounder thrown in. But this year, the top half of the draft was out of whack value-wise because everyone was wanting to trade down and there were no mad rushes for QBs.
That's just how it went. I heard sveral teams wanted SF's 31st pick, so there was competion in a bad way.

The team that gave up by the most value was Oakland. That trade was a giant mismatch. The should have gotten at least another 2nd rounder.

But that was the market...take it or leave it.

We got a 1st in the trade, the Pats did not...

That's the difference.

Look at tthe vikings pressor. He flat out said he paid more than the chart.

Something tells me you already knew the answer to this question and just wanted to make a thread about it.

Yea, if you go by the chart we were like -80 but Oakland was like -520.
