The Cowboys have Dak Prescott at QB, and are getting ready to sink more years into him. What we've seen the last 5 years...is what we're gonna see the next 5 years

The Vikings HAD Dak Prescott at QB (one with slightly better playoff success though) and they said "we'll never win the SB with this guy" so they ditched him, and tore it down to the studs.

It will be very interesting, to see where the Vikings and Cowboys are in 5 years.

Hope the Vikes don't get young, suck for a couple years, and then pass us like a bum on the street as they are ascending with a new young team, while we are dying a slow slow death, with 36 year old Dak still sucking up our salary cap like Mazi sucks up milkshakes.

Everything we do is slow.

Jerruh steers this team one of those giant cargo ships that needs 2 hours and 20 miles in order to turn around....while many of these other teams zip circles around us on jet skis.

I bet this is exactly what happens, but do you think Jerry will care he'll be too busy singing the same praises to Dak and all the others on this team about how great they are

Cousins is also 36 and tore his achilles, if he plays the full season and they make the playoffs again he's probably resigned.

They didn't ditch him. He was a free agent coming off a torn Achilles injury at age 35. And still, they held negotiations with him, but wouldn't give him a multiyear commitment, so he left in free agency.

Why are you so concerned with the Vikings specifically passing us? Everybody is going to pass us. What’s the difference if the Vikings do it too?
Because they are kind of our mirror image.

We were in 2 very similar situations,....and took 2 entirely different paths from the same spot.

So I will find it interesting to see how they do compared to us..... so we'll know whether we chose the right road or not

Yeah but they COULD have held on to him....if they really wanted to.

We will get passed by everyone. We aren’t taking the right path no matter what

And they tried to, for the right amount for a 35-year-old QB coming off a major injury. Right now, Dak Prescott is Kirk Cousins five years ago. At that point, Cousins was playing on a three-year fully guaranteed contract worth $84 million. It was a historic deal and put him among the top-five highest-paid QBs. In 2020, he agreed to a two-year extension for $66 million, with $61 million guaranteed (if you want to say that's more comparable to the Dak situation now). His $33 million that year made him the NFL's seventh-highest-paid player. (Dak was ninth at $31.5 million).

The Cowboys are treating Dak no differently than Cousins was treated at the same point in his career. Prescott is coming off a year where he was an MVP runner-up, so he will be paid like it, just as Cousins was paid like a top QB at the same point in his career. I'm not saying I agree with it, just that this is the market. Comparing a 35-year-old Cousins coming off a major injury to a 30-year-old Prescott coming off an MVP runner-up season is a bad comparison.
