I just started reading "The Greatest Professional Wrestlers of All Time" by Larry Matysik.

Anyway it starts out by listing the "Top 50 Superstars" that Vince McMahon put out a couple years ago...

Here are the top 5 of that list:
1. Shawn Michaels
2. The Undertaker
3. Stone Cold Steve Austin
4. Bret Hart
5. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

It's a stunning list that you couldn't help look at and either laugh or cry.

Did anyone he didn't "make" crack the top 10?

Here's the next 5...

6. Harley Race
7. Rick Steamboat
8. Andre the Giant
9. Rey Mysterio
10. Rowdy Roddy Piper

It's a head shaker.

The rumor was that Harley Race placed so high is because HHH is a huge fan.

The son-in-law seal of approval.

Top 50 Superstars is talking about WWF/WWE guys only.

That is why Superstars was stressed.

And anyone who (at that time) who refused to have anything to do with the WWE was left off (Savage and Sammartino)

Flair was at his peak in the NWA and WCCW.

That's not accurate.

Lou Thesz had nothing to do with the WWF/WWE and was rated 21st. (which is insulting in itself).

Nick Bockwinkel and Dory Funk Jr. also made the list and they weren't WWF/WWE guys.

Actually Savage and Bruno did make the list... Maybe not in accurate spots, but they did make it.

The list was meant to be all-encompassing.

This is one time when Vince and I would agree... No "Ultimate Warrior" in the top-50... Probably not in the top-100 either. :D

Mysterio better than Eddy?

Puh-leaze.

YR

The list McMahon and company created reflected guys they were pushing at the time more than it was a list that accurately measured the skill and contribution of the folks that make up the list.
