Vince young benched?

What a confusing lead paragraph. Released from the team or demoted to second string?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An injured Vince Young tossed his shoulder pads and No. 10 jersey into the stands following Tennessee's 19-16 overtime loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

Young, who injured his right thumb late in the third quarter and was replaced by rookie Rusty Smith, left for the locker room but returned to the sideline and had the thumb taped and re-taped in an effort to return. He even tried a glove, but coach Jeff Fisher stuck with Smith.

After the game, Young walked toward the tunnel and suddenly tossed his shoulder pads and jersey into the stands.

A few minutes later he walked past reporters already dressed, ignoring both questions and his old college teammate who tried to talk to him.

Fisher says Young has a torn flexor tendon in his right thumb and may need season-ending surgery. Either way, Fisher says Smith now is Tennessee's starter after the fifth-year veteran's latest meltdown.

Titans Release Vince Young As Starting Quarterback
Young Declines To Speak With Media

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Titan's Coach Jeff Fisher released Vince Young as starting quarterback after Sunday's loss against the Washington Commanders.

Vince Young quickly dressed after the game, walked from the Titans' locker room, and didn't speak with the media.

cmon dude..dont post BS thread titles like this

It's kinda confusing but the title is what is reported. I didn't make it up.

The guys on the Fan after the game acted like Young was indeed done with the Titans. That Fisher had enough after this latest blowup.

plays like this didn't help

I have never posted a misleading title. DUDE!

The story said released. I thought they meant they released their starting QB.

Geez.

He probably will be, unless he needs surgery. Then, they can't release him.

They could go the injury settlement route, but I think they will just IR him for this year and officially release him in the offseason.

I agree with others, sounds like Vince Young just played his last down as a Titan. He will probably be in Minny next year.

You mean relieved, rather than released, right?

:laugh2:

Jeff Fisher murdered and decapitated Vince Young today for his performance in today's loss to the Commanders. Oops, should read "demoted". Funny how people always confuse the two.

Perhaps, but given Farve's mistake filled year and the way his pick last year ended it for them; I'm not so sure they're prepared to take on a guy with Vince's history.

Yea, what they need to do is draft a QB.

Hard to believe both us and Minny are 3-7 right now.

Vince Young and Jeff Fisher may no longer be able to co-exist

The more we hear about Vince Young’s post-game meltdown, the less likely it seems that Vince Young will ever take a snap for Titans coach Jeff Fisher again.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Fisher and Young got into a verbal altercation in the locker room after the team’s loss. This was after Young threw his shoulder pads in the crowd after the game, apparently upset he wasn’t put back on the field.

According to Wyatt, Young was “throwing out expletives” under his breath as Fisher talked to the team. Young was told to quiet down. After Young quickly dressed, he started to leave the locker room and Fisher told him not to walk out on his teammates.

Young’s response, which Wyatt is paraphrasing: “I’m not running out on teammates, I’m running out on you.”
