Vince Young was a terrible passer as a rookie, but one hell of a runner nad a leader.

Still had no business being a probowl selection. Just terrible.

Vince led his team on a scoring drive...well he and LT.

Vince had some nice passes out there. The INT was a bad pass, but also, miscommunication between he and his FB (not his normal FB)

As far as Vince fumbling the snap....he has been doing that since his freshman year at UT....

Vince Young may have horrible mechanics and terrible accuracy - but the guy is a winner. He has something special about him. I've never quite seen a performance like the national championship game when he put Texas on his back and carried them.

Vince Young deserved to be in the probowl, wish I could say the same for the QB that represented the cowboys yesterday......

Actually, I don't have a "my team" for college sports. I follow the college-level sports just for the sport. I do generally pull for Texas, though, simply because I'm from the state.

That doesn't change the fact that Young sucked this year as a QB.

Young sucked as a QB? A QB isn't just a passer....a QB is a field general, a leader, the guy teams rally around and lean on when the going gets tough....Vince might have struggled as a passer this year.....but all he did was exude confidence and prove to his teammates that no matter what the circumstances were in a game, they always had a chance to win....

Bash Vince all you want....but he is a very good QB....cause he has the intangebles (size, speed, elusiveness, leadership, confidence, coolness, poise, never say die attitude, and he does have a strong arm)....

Does he need work? yes...on his accuracy, decision making, and not fumbling so much.....but damn, he was only a rookie and won rookie of the year and made the pro bowl...and also got his team within 1 game of making the playoffs.

VINCE RULES

The something special about him is his legs.
Without his special running ability he would pretty much suck.

He is a powerfull strider, with good speed, and great quickness.

Remember Vick and his amazing run in OT vs the Vikings?

Vick is pretty much just like Young.

BTW......if I can compare Vince's field presence and aura.....I would compare him to John Elway.

When Elway took the field....his teammates just knew magic was going to happen...maybe not in the first half, but sometime during the game he was gonna lead the team to victory.

Vince has this exact same type of aura about him. His teammates seem to rally around him and believe cause he believes.....they stay cool cause he stays cool. They dont quit cause he doesnt quit....

BTW....Vince had a better rookie year than Elway did.....also...Vince finished his college career winning a national title in the Rose Bowl with one of the best individual performances ever....Elway's college career is tainted by the memory of the Stanford choke job against Cal (the most popular college highlight today)

I'm still one of his doubters. he impressed me a little his rookie year, but still he relies on his running wayyyyyyy to much to be sucessful in this league. IMO

Either he learns how to pass the ball consistently, or he will never lead his team very far.

JMHO of course.

Vick is nothing like Young....

Vick is smaller and gets hurt easier. Vick couldnt lead his team to the national championship. Vick never won NFL Rookie of the Year. Vick didn't make the Pro Bowl his rookie season. Ron Mexico gives girls herpes and hides illegal substances in water bottles....Vick flicks off fans and bashes his coaching staff to the media.....Vick acts like a pampered, spoiled brat who lashes out when he doesnt get his way.

The only thing Vick and Vince have in common is they are both black....

I would take Vince over Vick any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

You are severly underestimating what Vick did when he first entered the league.

why dont you look at his second season in the NFL for EX: Most believe it was MVP like.

and as for his college career he was 22-2 as a starter, his freshman, and sophmore year. Even tho he didnt win the NC game his Freshman year, people were buzzing about his performance after the game. I know cause i was a HUGEEEEEEE FSU fan.

51.5 completion %
2199 yds
12 TDs
13 INTs

he also had several passes that were dropped......

I got to see about 6 or so of the Titans games and Vince played like a rookie....but in the 4th quarter of every game I saw, except the Cowboys game (his first start)....he was the Vince from UT....

BTW...Vince only runs when he has to run. He tries to pass first and runs only when there is no option to pass....I would rather he run than force a pass for an int....

I am completely sold on Vince....I laugh at Houston struggling with Carr.....they so could have had Vince...sold out every game, and had a legit shot at fielding a winning team for the first time ever.

FSU exposed Vick that game. They made Vick run for his life all game long. Bowden totally outcoached the VaTech coach.

Vick is a special talent, no doubt. He is fast as hell....I just dont see him being all that great of a passer. He has his moments, but he is very inconsistent. And for such an elusive and fast guy, he sure does get sacked a lot. He has the athletic ability....but IMO, his sour attitude kills him. He isnt labeled the coach killer for nothing.

He isnt a great passer, and neither is Vince. I see very simliar qualities with each other.

only differences are:

Young is bigger
Young is stronger
Vick is faster/elusive

and as for Vince being a winner. Well ill agree he is, but that alone wont get you that far.

let me remind you

Young's first 13 starts 8-5 record.
Vick's first 13 starts 8-4-1 record.

Vick's first 45 starts 30-14-1.
Vick was considered a winner when he first entered the league.

30-14-1 to start your career is damn impressive. he also led Atlanta to a win vs Green Bay at Lambeau which hardly ever happens.

Im sorry but as of now, i dont see why Young is anything better than Vick.

As a tailback he did ok this year. As a quarterback he completely sucked. There's really no way around this truth. Was he a dynamic player? Possibly. Did he suck at quarterback? Oh, heck yeah.

This is my last post on this topic.

Im not doubting Young's leadership, running ability, or ability to rally the troops.

But IMO to win in this league consistently you need to pass the ball consistently, OR have a GREAT team around you.

If he can progress with throwing the ball to a point that he can do it consistently, he could win alot, and possibly the Super bowl.
