I read about this earlier this morning. Both brothers are now gone. That is a massive shame. Two extremely talented brothers lost forever.

The funniest thing is you figured Phil would have been the first of all of them that would die. That guy was a train wreck.

I do have a funny story about Phil though. Way back when Pantera was still just a small local band in the D/FW area. They used to play one weekend at Dallas City Limits, then the next weekend at Joe's Garage (in FW) then back to Dallas City Limits. Since I grew up in South Fort Worth, we would go see them every weekend they played at Joe's.

My buddy and I gave this guy $5 to go buy my buddy and I a pitcher of beer. Well, we got caught drinking it and they took my buddy and I outside and held us there. Then all the sudden Phil Anselmo (he was dating my sister's husband's cousin at the time) comes out and starts threatening us saying we could ruin his career by getting Joe's Garage shutdown. rofl

Maybe a week or two later I see him again and he laughs and said that the owner of the bar asked him to come scare us not realizing we knew each other hah.

Some years later when the Dallas Stars were winning a lot and ended up with a cup, I ran into them again when they used to show up at the Big Apple bar that was at the north end of 360. Some of the Dallas Stars used to show up there and Pantera showed up a few times.

This hurts fellow Cowboy fans. Whether we agree or disagree on footballl, those who like metal know what Vinnie meant. I really don’t want to go on any further....this is rough in so many ways :(
Don't know much about his music, I knew about him because I have visited his bar The Clubhouse in Dallas several times. RIP

I never missed a show when Pantera played Joe's Garage. Vinnie was the coolest one in the band. I grew up in their home town and had the privilege to attend some of their parties.
Hey YosemiteSam. We hung out at the same places. There's a chance we met at some point.

Not a good picture at all but I bought this in an auction a few years ago. It was never released to the public and taken by a local photographer in ‘89. Notice Dime was still signing his name Diamond and it was still the old school Pantera logo. This poster is pretty unique because they are in the middle of transitioning from glam to heavy metal. I had tons of friends that met them over the years and they all said they were the coolest, most down to earth guys. If you ever get a chance watch the Pantera home videos called Watch It Go. I’ve seen so many of their shows I can’t recall (and due to drugs and alcohol, lol). Also lucky enough to see Damage Plan a few weeks before Dime was shot.

Oh yeah, Vinnie was also a huge Cowboys fan. He always wore a Cowboys hat, shirt or headband.

It's very possible. I can't even recall how many shows saw at Joe's Garage. Actually that was the one and only place I ever saw Coroner play too.

My hangout in the late 80s early 90s
This was before Pantera got a record contract.

That brings back memories! Did you ever remember a guy named Greg that used to show up there. I mean a LARGE guy. I remember occasionally these asshats would get in the mosh pit intentionally trying to hurt people. When Greg would see those guys, he would go into the pit and just flat out TRUCK them!!! Yeah, you wouldn't see those dude around anymore after that. rofl.

They were HUGE Stars fans too. When you go to a Stars game and you here that DALLAS --- STARS -- DALLAS -- STARS and then the heavy riff behind it. That was Pantera!
