Vital to implement TE Jake Ferguson back into this offense

Same reason they brought Zeke back. Familiarity….

They see these guys in practice all year. And I’ll say this about Ferg….i thought he was a potential top 10 guy…he’s a good tight end but that ceiling might’ve been hit already.
Witten's ceiling was hit 6 years earlier.

He's got upside but we heard the same thing last off-season about Ford. He was nothing special. Decent blocker, hands are questionable. But his traits ,size are hard to find. The complete TE might be Fairweather from Auburn. Or the Virginia kid.
Why hands? He had no drops though he only had 14 targets. I want to see more of him because I don’t see Ferg getting an extension so we need one of the other guys to step up and be ready, Shoonmaker had 3 drops as a rookie but none last year so that’s a nice improvement for him

Not sure why you keep bringing up Witten he’s been long gone lol.
It is show a pattern if we don't like change and can not recognize a good TE on our roster, because they get no opportunities.

When Witten left Schultz came out of now where.

The year before his 63 reception break out year he had 1 reception.

Ehhh…Schultz was a jag. Which is why they brought Witten back who was finished at the time. Ferg had some setbacks from gaining weight and injuries. His issues haven’t simply been playing time.

You dont??? then wth is the draft for? Do you think Jayden Daniels was not drafted to fix a glaring hole at the most important position in the game? When you draft someone in the frst rd, you are addressing the position. It just doesnt always work out as planned.
No you don't. How many first round bust QB's have you seen. How did Trance work out?

You definitely do not attempt to fix a hole, with a player with very little experience, with a lot of potential, in the first round and expect them to play a different position than they played in college or ask them to immediately lose 30 pounds in an attempt to turn them into someone someone else overnight.

Those types of players are called projects or developmental players that typically get drafted in round 4 or later.

Let's not annoint Ford just yet . In my view, none of our guys stand out as the clear #1 TE. This is good, it breeds competition in camp. Let's see who emerges.

As a 4th round pick rookie, Jake Ferguson flashed athleticism and big play run after catch skills (the patent leap frog jump plays)

- In 2023, he was clearly gaining a rapport with Dak Prescott, ( and it's only with Dak ) ..do i think Fergy will/could be a stand out. Based off those promising flashes i thought Fergy could eventually be a Pro Bowl TE.

- With Cooper Rush subbing for an injured Dak, McCarthy's under-utlizing him, and a wicked concussion in week 11, that could've had that much more ill effect on him, Ferguson really took a major step back in '24.
Zero TDs in 2024, isn't a ringing endorsement.

- Oddly, even after his promising, display rookie year it was wide spread that the rumor the Cowboys were looking for a new starting TE ..thus the whispering rumors of draft interest in TEs Dalton Kincaid,(Bills) ..and Sam Laporta (Lions) ..before settling on drafting 2nd rd. bust TE Luke Schoonmaker..

- To this day, That Luke pick still burns at me.
But to me, it is vital to implement Ferguson back into this offense. With Opposing defenses having to defend and focus on both Lamb & Pickens, things should open up opportunity for Fergy in 2025.
The offense looked best when Ferguson was thriving.....it really hasn't regained that since his injuries.

2025 could be his bounce back season especially with Pickens here drawing coverage......Fergs could leave a trail of tosted LBs and some safeties in his wake

Ferguson had a season that was seriously marred by injury. I think he'll be back to contribute far better than in 2024. When healthy, he's a gutty player who will have a year that any TE might be proud of.

Expecting a hurt player to play at his normal level is asking for miracles. Let's give him the full benefit of being fair with our expectations. If healthy, he's a very physical TE to go up against. He's a keeper.
