Von Miller: My Smile is Back

I tend to agree with you. I've not said anything but nothing I've heard from him so far has impressed me and instead everything I've read and listened to has made me wonder why he's actually here.

I liked the Clowney signing last year and I'm starting to think we would have been better off bringing him back if we wanted an older veteran rusher and not signing Miller, and that's strange because I have a lot of respect for what Miller has done in his career.

Miller has just looked like the old man on the field when I've seen videos of him and that combined with all of the comments I've heard him make him sound like he's more interested in coaching or front office positions than actually playing.

If that's the case they should cut him and hire him to their staff. He can do those things he's constantly talking about without taking up roster or salary cap space.

Some posters here expect modern athletes to act like it's 1970, when players just put their heads down and never spoke publicly about anything except what happens on the field.

Now we have Von Miller, a likely first ballot HOF player, in his 16th year saying he wants to help the younger guys, and people on here are mad.

Expecting grown men, who are the actual talent, to have zero public opinion on the team or their role just isn’t real. It's wanting them to be robots. You can't demand fire and passion on gameday but demand silence the rest of the week.

Who cares what he says? He's got to have nonstop microphones stuck in his face. If he produces on the field that's all that matters.
 
Happy to have him here. Excellent fit, and it finally at least sort of feels as if there’s people brought in for certain roles as part of an overall plan, rather than just collecting players and making them square pegs.

He actually has said, multiple times, that he's the greatest teammate in the NFL. If you have to say that, you aren't.

He also said he can get 10 sacks with no problem

Fine.

If the production isn't there fast, cut him loose and bring up Land.

don’t have a problem with anything he’s said. I think the issue with some is his comments the other day about being here to mentor and teach, and if he gets 8-10 sacks, then he’s overpaid. I can understand the consternation about that comment
 
When did he lose his smile? He sounds like HBK, for all of the WWF/E fans out there.
 
Dallas is where veterans on the backside of their careers come for one last paycheck. Jason Peters did the same thing.

"My contract is what it is. They’re not paying me for what I do on the football field," Miller said. "If I go out there and get eight sacks, 10 sacks, I’m way underpaid. They’re paying me, and my contract is what it is to be the locker room guy."

My confusion is his own uncertainty. He put this thought into existence, no one else brought it up.

I don't think he's really said that he doesn't need to produce on the field. I think he has said that he's good for 8 to 10 sacks rolling out of bed. I believe his point was that his contributions go beyond just what he can produce, that he can make other players around him better even when he's not on the field.

Some jumped on a comment he made about being good for 10 to 15 plays, dwelling on that instead of the point that he was making that he was good for improving the team's pressure for 10 to 15 plays WITHOUT even being on the field. He wasn't talking about the number of plays he was going to be on the field. He has mentioned multiple times that getting sacks is the expectation when he's on the field.

I think people parse every word from these people through the most possible negative light. Athletes are just human beings and the comments we get up in arms about were not filtered through AI to make sure that overly sensitive fans didn’t interpret each comment in a way that might result in outrage and calls for the player to be fired. If they did, we would rip them for being fake
