I vote Henson with an outside shot of Romo. When BP leaves our geriatic QB experiment will be over. I do not think we will bring in any high profile draft choices.

Henson. On the roster already which means no big $$$ free agent contract or high draft pick to be spent.

Quinn is going to take a top 5 pick if not the top pick next year. Dallas would either have to really have an unhealthy season for them to have that pick next year or would have to sacrifice the ability to add quality talent to trade up for it.

I agree that Quinn is likely to be the top pick in the draft next year along with possibly Adrian Peterson if he comes out.
The Chargers used a top draft pick on a QB when they already had a pretty good one. Its turned out pretty well for them right now sitting there with two good QBs. Considering how critical the QB position is, you have to ask how much is a franchise QB worth? If you used one entire year's draft picks on one QB but he turned out to be the next Favre, Manning, or Brady...is he worth it? I'm inclined to say yes, at least if you don't have any future at the position and its not like you can bring in a quality FA QB for any cap-friendly numbers.
I'm pretty sold on Quinn and I think he'll be the best QB to come out since Palmer. If we shore up our defense and OL this offseason, I don't think it'd be unreasonable to make a big push next year. It really wouldn't be all that sacrificial if we traded down this year and got an extra first next year.
But really the bottomlines are 1) Are Henson or Romo capable of being the dude? 2) If they're not, how long do you think Bledsoe can play at a high level? 3) What is a franchise QB worth? 4) and is Quinn one of those?

I voted Henson, but secretly hope its Bledsoe. Because we must've won a Super Bowl (or three) if our embattled "ancient and dead-legged" QB is still taking snaps for us in 2009...:D

I hate everything about ND, but with another year, Quinn could be ideal. Weiss is a great guy when it cmes to QB's, just look at what he did with Brady I wouldn't mind Quinn here at all.

Dream scenario, Henson or Romo pan out. That makes things alot easier. No matter what, it's not nice still not knowing where we will be at QB a few years down the line.

Barring anything unforseen, we may have the same starting QB 2 years running for the 1st time since '99 (im pretty sure) this year. That's somewhat nice.

As of now Bledsoe still has the best shot at being our starter in '09. I can easily see him keeping up the same production he is now for another 2 seasons, which will make it rather hard to move him out in 3. I guess it really depends on him, how long will he want to play. And if he doesn't get smoldering heat from the fanbase I could really see him falling in love with this job and not be willing to give it up until we have to literally drag him off the field, possibly a large hook involved. This is every NFL QB's dream job, like pitching for the Yankees in baseball, and after playing for the Pats and Bills Bledsoe is going to deliver the best play he ever has in his career, and it wouldn't surprise me if each year he settles more and more into the position as this team gets built around him.

In essense we really should start looking at now as the future. We have a quarterback that could easily play for 4-5 more years at this same level he's playing at now. It just might not be worth it to keep our eyes open in other directions. Instead concentrate our efforts on other positions, like the WR spot where walkers are going to become a nessecity sooner rather then later. Which if we don't take care of those two spots first, what kind wide receiverless hell would we be throwing this unknown new QB into without any offensive weapons around him? A descent TE and a hold-your-breath RB is nothing significent. Or if it's going to happen it needs to happen this year. Atleast a few steps would remain in our WR's legs and then in 08' he could start figuring it out himself with 16 games already under his belt. But really there's no way that's going to happen unless Parcells was to walk out tomorrow and take Bledsoe with him because Jerry sold the farm to get Leinhart or Young in the draft.

Drew Bledsoe:)

If BP's coaching ... I wouldn't be surprised. ha ha

What kills me is we could have gone through 2004 and 2005 with probably the same record with a young QB (Hensen?) at the helm.

Do we really want to go into the 2nd part of the decade with NO future QB in line???

The whole point of this poll was to see what the opinions were amongst zoners regarding our QB situation. From what the poll tells me, I can deduce that most folks are still high on Drew Henson and would prefer him over Romo. Second, what the feeling was regarding mortgaging the future to have a shot at Brady Quinn, and itseems to be the consensus that we should consider it. I am surprised that more people didn't think Romo was the answer.

This is exactly my thinking. Hoping that Henson pans out nd that we take a shot at Quinn if they don't think he will.
