now that is a slap to the face of mayo. the krafts already knew who they wanted to replace belichick. they should have just hired him last year when he was fired by the titans. maybe vrabel wanted to take a year off from being a headcoach and just relax as a consultant for the browns to get himself ready to be the headcoach again. mayo would be a good defensive cordinator and maybe a future headcoach again.
Its not a slap in the face to Mayo. He was the head coach in waiting and he failed his first go around. Numerous reasons led to his firing but one glaring issue was he struggled with day to day football operations. That is not someone you want leading your club. If anything, its a slap in the face of Vrabel who should have got the job last year.

The hope for Vrabel is that he has a real GM with 20+ years of choosing personnel......we'll see how that works out
The best GM in the League happens to also be one of the 32 owners. So, no such luck landing him.

I think Vrabel is a good hire for the Pats, and good for Kraft getting it done in short order. Also, Kraft showing some pecans firing his coach after 1 season, but I'd it's not working...fix it.

Milk man, Jerry is happy one less team to battle with for media attention about coaches.

You can bet your house on it. They will reload and reach the SB again while Jerry working on his "all in" plan

good move for them.
heard yesterday he may bring back josh mcdaniels as his off.coord.
wonder if he has spots for matt patricia or romeo crennel.
bringin' the band back.

"Vrabel isn't going to joke around, Vrabel is going to tighten the screws. In my opinion, there are some people in the front office that need to be told, 'You don't know what you're doing and you need to take a step back,' ...I love the hire. Of course, this guy is a friend of mine. But there is going to be a change. I'm a little bit surprised that this happened because there are some people upstairs in the organization that want to be heard. And sometimes they're going to have to take a bite of 'Humble Pie' and understand 'your opinion doesn't matter on this one' because there are people in the building that know more. I hope that is what happens this time around because the collaboration project did not work." - Former Pat Tedy Bruschi. It is to weep.

I pointed out in another thread that Josh McDaniels is unlikely to get another HC gig because of the botched Broncos and Raiders jobs and being a OC is probably his best calling.
