I haven't heard JJ say or any of the leaks that he will be the head coach next year. While I think it is highly unlikely.......

..it would make a big splash to bring someone in as head coach and keep Wade as defensive coordinator

Would wade live with that?
Would a real head coach even come in under those conditions?

Just a crazy thought from a wounded fan

The man won the NFC East, his 2nd in 3 years. He won a playoff game as Cowboys Head Coach. Something not even a Hall of Famer like Parcells had done.

You actually think he would agree to come back but step aside? Why even entertain that thought when you know it's going to be ridiculous?

You know hos, I am just not convinced that the current staff is going to be able to ever win a super bowl. Maybe I'm just judging Wade harshly because he doesn't come across as a real head coach.....too sad looking and doesn't seem in charge of the team

I think I like a lot of the fans want to see something that makes us feel like it will be different next year. Doing something feels that way. Doing the same feels like it won't change.

But that is just a wounded fan.......not really a rationale football guy

Why not stay in the real world to think these things though man? I'm asking you seriously. Would you have some success and step aside because a large portion of the fan base want you to?

My gosh man.

Yeah, looks like we're stuck with the Marty Schottenheimer of the NFC. Coaches like this are an enigma. They win enough to keep a job, and/or get other jobs, making people think they will finally "breakthrough", but they never do.

It's a shame to waste the talent we do have the last few years with a guy like this, but not only have we done that, we want to keep him for another year or two.

Yep. When I think about going all out to do whatever it takes to win, I definitely think about trying to do it with a coach like Wade, Norv or Schottenheimer.

But hey, he's won more playoff games here than Parcells. Nevermind the fact BP took over a perienniel 5-11 team while Wade had the luxury of taking over once the ship had been righted.

I'm not much on Wade but even I don't think that Wade is that submissive.

I don't think Wade would stay if removed as HC. As for being a real Head coach we have a real HC.

The Cowboys have averaged an 11-5 record each season under Wade Phillips. He is a winning football coach. Do we need to make some improvements? Yes, but I'd say the changes needed are in personnel (O-line for example). I do question some of the calls, but the players have to execute.

Hos, as much as I respect you as a gifted and intelligent writer, I can't help but think that you're saying this in order to convince yourself. It's like I mentioned before to another poster, you're putting lipstick on a pig and trying to sell us on the idea that it's the prettiest girl in the room. Well that would be fine if it's the only living thing in the room, but it's not. Parcells built that team during Wade's first year as the head coach (and do not confuse this as me riding the Tuna's jock - he quit on us and I hate him for it). Regardless, even though Wade had the best team in the NFC, they fell flat on their face against the midgets in the division round playoffs. Okay...it happens - we pick up and move on.

But most of us believed (including myself) that Wade's success in the regular season was only going to get better once he had a firmer handle on this team. And that the playoff loss to our division foe was simply a fluke. Then season two began with Jerry agreeing to put us back in the spotlight on that gawdforsaken show, "Hard Knocks". So now we're getting a more magnified view of Wade's coaching abilities. And, man, it made me sick! Watching him handhold the rookies that they were cutting in training camp, lacking an overall presence that one should expect from a head coach and those goshdarn excuses he kept trying to feed us (the fans) with assinine statements like, "Technically it's like winning a playoff game when your team has a 1st round bye". To top it all off, we don't make the playoffs in his second year even though we controlled our own destiny with the final regular season game against Philly.

I mean...C'mon!!!:bang2: :banghead: :bang2:

In my eyes this was the absolute worst thing that could happen to this team. And the more I type right now, the sicker it makes me feel.

Exactly. I really don't know why everyone wants to get rid of him.

1-2 in the playoffs or 1-3 if you count the Philly game last season.

Even Wade has feelings akin to a man.

he would not step aside as solely DC.

No, my brotha, Wade would rather leave outright that have that done to him.

Iffin only there was a fat boy retirement home for mild-mannered NFL coaches somewhere. Plenty of food, a wading pond, bingo nights. Wade deserves the best in his golden years.

So now we are counting games that were not playoff games?

Parcells was 0-2 in the playoffs.

Not looking to bash you, but do really feel this way? I can't understand the whole Wade's a baffoon on the sideline deal.

I don't see it, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. I see a well run sideline on game day and that's a testament to a sharp HC.

How many times do we blow timeouts?
How many times do we not have the right number of players on the field?
How often does the sideline look disorganized in any way?

How about challanges? How good has Wade been on that? That 1st Q INT challange was huge! I and others on this site didn't even consider challaging it.

Why do you want change? You don't see progress? How about a just a little more talent and depth for the OL and the same production out of the rest of the team?

I mean...yea, you have to count the Philly game (I do anyway). Because the winner of that game would go into the playoffs as a wildcard team. So how could you not?

BTW, Parcells did not have the same team his first year that Wade was handed. He built that team in as much as Switzer was handed Johnson's team.

But once again, let me repeat, I'm not a fan of the Tuna. He quit on us and that's unforgivable. And yet I do know who to give credit to.

Coaching wise Wade Phillips reminds me of Andy Reid. And I'm not saying coaching style or anything, but they both have put up phenomenal records in their places, but haven't gotten the respect they've deserved as football coaches. Actually, bad comparison, now I feel like Alan from The Hangover.

BECAUSE they have not won it all. Wade has not even come close.

Sorry Hoss but Wade does not make me think we can win it all with him as HC. BP is old news, was pretty much burnt out as coach after 2003. And he built the foundation of this team. Wade was supposed to build on that to win it all. Sorry but he has not even come close. BP was 0-2 postseason and Wade is 1-2 with a MUCH BETTER TEAM. And say what you will we did not end our seasons getting destroyed or losing to teams not as good as we were which is what has happened the last 3 years. So wade has frankly improved very little on BP and THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.
